Lake Travis Independent Living

I moved my mother to Lake Travis Independent Living after what I thought was an excellent tour and lovely facilities. But unfortunately it did not deliver what was promised. Most of the reviews I see are not from those that live there, but have toured the facility or are commenting on being there in the future. However, reality as a resident is different; management is poor. The food is 'average' and I would say below average in spite of being told on tour they had won a food service award...that chef is gone. Maintenance does not respond in a timely manner ....2 months to replace a sink stopper is unacceptable for a senior who uses a filled sink to get the correct temp for washing at night. Telling me they can not fix a broken vent blowing cold air on my mother and that I have to buy a hood myself to fix it...which I did!, is unacceptable and staff telling me to my face that she had created a health and safety issue when the fact was actually that they had not fully tested appliances in her apartment before moving her in and the oven was faulty. downright rude and hurtful. There are multiple other examples I have observed demonstrating staff that say they care and then do something that shows lack of interest in her care and comfort as a senior woman who is also a WWII veteran. She asked to be moved after 2.5 months because of an accumulation of situations of service and broken promises that added up to and resulted in discomfort and stress for her. As I visit her multiple times a week these issues are ones I personally observed. I can not recommend this facility at this time. Hopefully with reviews like this they will make changes so others do not experience what my mother and I did. The high cost of living there does not meet the promised experience for a loved one.

Lake Travis Independent Living is an awesome place to live. The food is fantastic with a ton of variety. I was also impressed with the activities offered to the residents. I found the management of the property very interested in the residents and very helpful.
