Alexian Village

I have lived in Milwaukee for most of my life, and have been familiar with Alexian Village over the years through my work as an RN in Care Management in Milwaukee County. When it came time to look for a new home for my mother, Alexian was on the top of our list. My mother fell in love with Alexian from the get-go. We were treated so warmly by the marketing staff (Amber!), who made my mom feel that she would be welcomed and happy. My mom is a very social person, and wanted a facility offering socialization and activities. She moved into a beautiful apartment in the independent living, and has been there for almost 2 years, and could not have been happier. She loves her new friends, the food, the 'happy hour', the memory and exercise classes, movie night and all the other activities offered in and out of the facility (music, shopping, local events). ALL of the staff she encounters routinely have been kind and helpful. I am giving 4 stars, vs 5, due to other experiences that I have encountered over the years in the assisted living area. I have had friends there, and see the common experience of not enough aide staff. This is chronic EVERYWHERE, in long term care. It's unfortunate, and I do not believe Alexian is any worse than other long term care facilities. It is always important for a resident to have an advocate looking out for their needs, no matter where you are. Alexian works VERY HARD I believe, to maintain the quality of their organization and facilities, and I see this as an ongoing objective of the organization.

My wife and I have lived in Alexian Village for nearly a year. We have a two bedroom independent living apartment which looks out on a park-like garden setting. Daily we eat in the dining room where we select delicious food from a restaurant-like menu and are served in settings with friends. Diverse programs and friendly neighbors maintain our interests and enrich our lives. The reason we chose to live at Alexian Village, having visited six other life-care communities, was the ability of the representatives we worked with here to listen to our needs and to develop a plan with us to meet them. Because of the emphasis by the sales team to address our expectations, our time here has not only been satisfactory, but has exceeded our expectations.

Visit their skilled nursing area and it was very nice the rooms was nice, and the person during the tour was knowledge , check it out for my mom, Since they do not have a waiting list I ask how you find out when a room become available and the nice lady I spoke to Tricia, told me just to check back every month to see if anything came available. and I been checking back, by emailing her and never hear back no answer. I am not sure how to check for availability. I really do like the facility

My mom has been living here for years now. The current management and staff are great. Food is excellent. Very inexpensive for guests to eat and drink as well. Friendly service by all. Lots of activities. Worth every penny to live here. Fun place with lots of activities. A community of friends.
