If I could give this place zero stars i would. I currently work here and I would just like to say if you love your family members DO NOT I repeat DO NOT send them here. Disregard any good reviews you have seen, they are outdated and not true.

My mother was recently accepted at Bethany to rehab after hip surgery and this has been the best decision we could have made. Her therapists Greg, Rhonda and Syrika are extremely dedicated and caring and have made astonishing progress with her. The nurses, CNA's and administration have also been wonderful, caring and informative, with a special shout out to Nurse Mary and Tek from admin. I've had extensive experience with rehab facilities in recent years due to several other family members illnesses, and the most important lesson I've learned is to look at the level of compassion in the staff and administration and not the age of the furniture or wallpaper. I have been to facilities with 10 times the budget of Bethany, with country club amenities - but their staff's were cold and uncaring and more interested in keeping the patients generating billable hours than recovery. Bethany keeps the focus on the patient and on getting them back to their lives to the best of their abilities on as fast a timeline as the patient is comfortable with. For that reason and focus alone, I would recommend Bethany without hesitation.

I am writing this review a few hours after losing my mom to cancer. However, I feel it is important that I share my experience and gratitude for all of those who supported us until the end. I want to preface my review by saying if I could give this facility a billion stars I would. I understand others may have different perceptions and experiences, but this is my honest review of my moms time at Bethany. To offer some backstory, my mom was airlifted in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital on December 20th. They were able to stabilize her, but the lack of care and compassion we received, along with the 2 hour commute, made it very difficult for my family. Knowing that my moms prognosis was not good, we wanted to get her closer to home and back with people that cared about her. We knew she would require a lot of assistance. Her cancer had spread to her brain and her cognition wasnt stable. She wasnt mobile and she needed a lot of medical support and intervention. My mom had been to a Bethany twice in the past for rehabilitation following surgery. Even though my mom had enjoyed her time at Bethany in the past, we put requests in with other nursing homes in the area in case they couldnt accommodate her. Not only was Bethany willing to take her, they were the only facility willing to take her. My mom moved back to Bethany on January 1st. We were immediately greeted by staff who remembered both my mom and my family. This was such a nice feeling after all we dealt with at the hospital over the holidays. It was like she was coming home, even if we couldnt support her at her actual residence. The care and love my mom received following her admission was excellent. She was regularly repositioned, they were on top of her medications, supported her via oxygen and IV, changed her briefs regularly, fed her three times a day (she didnt really want to eat), and regularly offered her fresh water and beverages. When my mom really started to decline they sent her to the hospital for review. I was worried she would lose her room but she was back the next day. She was technically there for rehab, but at that point, we knew she didnt have long to live. However, they never forced us out of her room or encouraged us to take her elsewhere. Myla, the social worker, was great and got us set up with Heartland Hospice (highly recommend this team too). Bethanys team and Heartlands team was always available and supported us every step of the way. This was a much different experience than what we had losing my brother in a hospital last year. My moms regular nurses, Stefani and Melissa, were some of the kindest most patient people I have ever met . My mom would often talk a lot when getting medication, but they would wait patiently and listen to what she had to say. She was always treated with respect. When my mom did have physical therapy, she enjoyed her time with Greg and another female PT. I wish I knew the names of more staff because everyone was truly amazing and they all deserve recognition. After spending many many hours at the facility with my mom (along with 3 stays) I noticed this is how they are with all their residents. You will see the social worker in the cafeteria getting refills for residents or a team of CNAs rushing in to help a family with a struggling patient. The facility was clean and you could tell they had immense pride and respect in what they did. When my mom passed this morning I could tell the condolences I received were genuine. As I was leaving the facility for my mom to go the funeral home, I rounded the corner and staff lined both sides of the hall. I will remember this moment forever. I wish I had better, more articulate words to truly convey how amazing this place is. All I know is if I had to do it again, I would without hesitation choose Bethany.
