Great place to live. Caretakers are very friendly and helpful. My grandkids love to play on the hills in the back.

They refused to accept my mother as a resident simply because she uses a wheelchair. My mother can stand on her own and even walk with a walker, and she can do almost everything for herself. She only needs help bathing, as many elderly people do. I was told that she needed more care than they could provide, even though while touring the facility I saw other residents in wheelchairs. The facility manager didn't even take the time to call me to explain why they refused her. I had to hear it from my mother's social worker.I don't know if I would call this a true 'Assisted Living Facility' if they consider bathing a resident as too much assistance.

My mom entered Southwinds in January 2018 and she has been very happy here. She's always clean, dressed and engaged with the other residents, things she needs staff help to achieve. We find it to be a welcoming family environment and Anita's personal interest in her well-being is outstanding. My mom recently had a health scare that required us to remove her temporarily to another facility, where conditions were abhorrent. She was isolated and ignored. We couldn't wait to get her back to Southwinds and Joel and the management at Southwinds worked very hard to welcome her back. This says it all: Anita accompanied us to bring my mom back. Watching my mom light up like a Christmas tree when she was interacting with Anita says it all - a resident's complete trust and happiness from her caregiver. To me that's the epitome of care-giving, someone who takes a personal interest in the well-being of a client. We are relieved my mom is back at Southwinds. I highly recommend this CBRF for your loved one!

I worked for them for one week and quit. First of all I was lied to about my pay and didn't find out until after I quit! They do NOT properly train you on medicationOR ANYTHING they put you on the floor and expect you to just know stuff.. I was trained one day(barely) the next day they had me passing meds and giving insulin even though I expressed how uncomfortable I was to pass meds and give insulin because I felt I was not properly trained, the manager Anita even rushed me telling me 'I know your new at this but your gonna have to hurry up'. A few days later my infant son at the time was 6 months old and had a fever of 103 I called into work at 5 a.m 2 hrs before my shift rushing my son to the E.R and the manager ANITA is on the phone screaming at me that I need to find someone to cover my shift while I'm rushing my child to the ER and he's clearly screaming in the background, so I ask her how do you expect me to find someone to cover my shift I just started I don't know anyone or any numbers she proceeded to scream at me 'AS YOUR BOSS IM TELLING YOU WHAT YOUR GONNA DO ETC , flat out didn't care what was going on with me or my child who ended up being in the hospital for 3 days.. the caregivers and kitchen lady are amazing but the management sucks and the owners are no better because they didn't care AT ALL! And I wouldn't recommend anyone work there or put there relatives there because they'll have anyone giving them medication I actually witnessed a lady that didn't work there had no relation to one of the residents come to visit him because he's her friend, he wasn't letting someone give him his insulin and Anita gave it to her to give him his insulin last I checked that's illegal ... They are unorganized they don't even have a med book barely ever have gloves .. laundry detergent.. wipes to properly clean the residents.. they use toilet paper and paper towel when they run out of wipes that's disgusting it was definitely worth quitting!
