I only recently started working with Avalon, but I can say without reservation it is again a great place to live and work. It is unfortunate they went through a rough time a couple years ago, but those days are long past.

My grandma has lived in the memory care unit for the past 3 years (before that in the main building at both levels of care for about 15 YEARS). Today I received 30 days notice that Avalon would be closing the memory care unit for renovations. 30 days notice is what's required by law in Wisconsin, but my grandmother & the other residents deserve better! 30 days notice to people with dementia, Alzheimer's and whom are otherwise debilitated?! I would have expected a company (Ridgeline Management Co.) that supposedly specializes in senior care would give a more reasonable amount of time to notify residents & their families (if they have families) if they were planning on doing renovations?...

I'm happy the MC residents had to move out. That's the only way for them to get proper care! They fired everyone who actually cared and took care of the residents. It's Soo much underhanded dirty stuff that goes on at avalon. Trust me, YOU DONT WANT YOUR FAMILY There! ....they don't even have a kitchen! They use an empty apartment to cook all the meals in. They have uncertified ppl passing medications. Staff have literally brought in food to cook because MC residents would only get a spoon full of eggs and a half of a slice of pound cake for breakfast. I overheard a nurse tell staff she had to run to the store because a resident hadn't had any thick it water to drink in 2 days, and she couldn't go another day without water...
