Most of the good reviews on here are written by staff. The director Jennifer gave herself 5 stars. They havent been locked down for covid entirely, only as it suits them. They opened up and had a birthday party for a resident turning 100, even got themselves written up in the newspaper. Then immediately shut down for visitors and anything else again. After giving residents false hope. No facility in Cowlitz county has had any issue with covid, so theyre not doing anything better. Last winter they shut down for URI (upper respiratory infection) the director likes to use little initials and acronyms she thinks others wont understand. The answer to a cold going around? Quarantine! Everyone in their rooms 24/7 no visitors no meals in the dining room, nothing. In 12 months these residents have been quarantined to their rooms over 5 months. Quarantine means 24/7 in your room alone, one window to look out of in most cases. Eat alone, watch tv alone, read alone, youre just alone in your room months at a time. Thats not precautions for the well being of residents, thats staffing issues. The director even told me they have no staffing issues and in her next sentence claimed shes changing catheters?!?! Does she do that for fun? The level of professionalism is a joke. The director and her staff will go through peoples Facebook like high schoolers and get offended you dont like them. I had to block them from my Facebook! Very immature. I dont have time in my life, to go around snooping at Facebook profiles, getting offended when people dont like me. I dont care. My concern was only for the lack of care of my friend. I posted a picture of my friend to get birthday cards for him, their staff Lifestyle enrichment coordinator threatened my nursing license. Told anyone who would listen it was a HIPPA violation. What on earth? Why? Of course nothing came of it and when brought to the attention of their director she sited my dislike for them on Facebook. Again, very immature, that I dont like them, has nothing to do with care or lack of care people receive at this facility. If youre going to snoop at least use the information to better what youre doing. I strongly urged a family not to put their loved one there and they are very pleased with the adult foster home they found instead. Its unfortunate for Highlander they didnt realize theyre a business and act professionally. They will lie right to your face and victimize themselves. I wouldnt put a dog in their care. Theyre way to self involved to care for others.I do have photographic evidence of most of this. It is not baseless allegations. But my screenshots do have peoples names in them and Im not trying to deliberately ruin lives. Unlike the staff at Highlander. I did use the directors name but her name and the 5 stars she gave herself are publicly viewable. Update, response to owner- I have actually contacted you about this facility on your website in the past, sent pictures of the med book, out in the open. This is the book that holds all residents medical and personal information, along with their picture and room number. I got no response. It was Saturday February 15th 2020. The very next weekend the same book was on the cart, nobody around, left in the open as visitors came and went. And after, your staff tried to slander me on social media, you actually have a bigger problem because people think your staff is unhinged and psycho. Im not sure how tirelessly your staff works. The director frequently has stated to me she was on PTO when Ive called with concerns and there was nobody able to answer my questions. Ive watched from the window as staff care in to my friends room, removed their compression socks and left, no gloves, no hand washing, before, during or after, what kind of Tireless infection control is that? But then again if theyre working so Tirelessly theyre bound to making more mistakes. Ive stepped back from driving my friend from your facility. Its unfortunate your residents suffer for staffs actions.

Jennifer is absolutely one of the best directors Ive came across. I am absolutely baffled reading one of the nastiest/ immature reviews about her when she has done everything in her power to keep my mother safe, healthy, and occupied during these hard times. All these amazing people in this facility are at risk and the fact they are being very strict, yet keeping everyone safe is absolutely amazing. THANK YOU everyone who works at Highlander Place for risking your lives to keep all of our love ones safe and happy. Do not let negative people and their google reviews sway your choice of putting your loved ones in this facility. Its one big loving family here. I couldnt be more grateful for the quality of staff at Highlander.

I can't say enough about how well the staff has handled the covid issue. It's been difficult for all family members. There hasn't been a single case of the virus. They have kept us all at bay and I am sure majority of us are fine so long as our family member is safe! Thank you to the staff!

We moved my parents to Highlander Place in November 2019 to be closer to us. Wonderful move! The folks in charge are great to work with and made us feel quite comfortable. The caregivers were very respectful, caring and responsive to any suggestions we had. My parents care became a team effort. They serve yummy home cooked type of food. As family, we were able to join them for a meal anytime. Always so clean and welcoming. We enjoyed visiting and did so very frequently...then Covid19 arrived in our country. Highlander Place did everything needed to keep their residents safe. In all the upheaval Mom began slipping away. The end of life is very difficult especially with all the restrictions in place. The staff all worked with us so we were able to maximize our last bit of time with Mom. We have a large family and we are all so thankful to the entire staff at Highlander for their love and caretaking. I would definitely recommend this caring home.
