I could not recommend Leonard Manor enough. We moved my grandma here after a month at Beacon Hill in Denison. In nearly 5 years at Leonard Manor grandma has had 1 fall. In just two weeks at Beacon Hill she fell 3 times and was rapidly declining. My grandma just had a heart attack and the staff had her taken care and on the way to TMC so fast. The staff at TMC said they were amazed with how well she had been taken care of. No bed sores or signs of any neglect which they see all the time. They were so surprised by how well and healthy she was for being 95 and immobile. The building is old and the rooms are small but the patient care is extraordinary. I think the small building and rooms are actually a benefit because the staff are closer to the patients and not running across a huge building all day. They make the extra effort to get patients out of bed every day in the morning, and after naps. They get them to dinner if they are healthy enough in the cafeteria every day for all meals if that's the patients request. They keep them moving as much as possible and talk to the patients and acknowledge them. Rarely if ever is there any kind of odor in the building. My grandma has always smelled clean and looked clean as well. When she was at Beacon Hill she had the worst body odor which she had never had ever before in her life. It was a night and day difference transferring to Leonard Manor. They have been excellent at communicating with family as well. From experience do not be discouraged by the building. After seeing the care at a fancy new nursing home and the care at Leonard Manor I would pick Leonard Manor over and over again for the patient care. Appearances mean nothing, but 5 years of them keeping my grandma healthy and happy means the world.
