This place sucks! My mom is there for rehab but there is no follow up and no one seems to know what is going on. She takes pain meds every 4 hours from a previous surgery but they dont give it regularly. She has to go up and ask for it and is usually told that nurse is at lunch and will bring it by later then they never bring it so up again she goes. The food is disgusting and served cold. Also when she pushes her nurse light, they can apparently turn it off at the nurses station but it stays on in her room so she cant push it again. Her roommate has been there a longtime and tells her horror stories about the staff and quality of care. Had we known all this we would have picked another place. But we live in Elgin and wanted her close to home. If you have a choice DONT GO unless you are looking for someplace to put your family to rot away.

I was contacted by Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation after a caseworker at Seton Hospital began searching for a place for my mom. I was told by Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation that they were the only option for my mom because they were the only center to accept her insurance. I later found out this is a blatant lie. They also to told me they were equipped to deal with Dementia, again a blatant lie. They attempted more than 3 times to move her to another facility, one time they even said she was no longer there, a blatant lie. My mother's insurance denied claim for physical therapy after Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation failed to file the paperwork needed. It was later approved after I explained my mother needed continued therapy. Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation told me moms insurance didn't agree, a blatant lie. They did not file the proper paperwork. After my mother was found naked in her own urine and fecal matter and began falling regularly, all the furniture was removed from her room and she was left on a mattress on the floor to rot. My cousin noticed a infection on mom's arm, from a fall that had gone untreated. It was too late to save her then, she was septic and died. This place is a fast track to death and should be avoided at any cost. James McCutchen
