If you or your loved one is on a fixed budget, the cost goes up substantially each year. My mother moved in at the end of the year and in January they increased her rent after only a few months of being there. It continues to go up 3% each year. While that may seem standard, the total monthly fee also includes food, so the 3% increase is also on her meals. Please consider this when making your decisions. If we were to decide to move her out after only a few years to something more economical we would lose the buy-in making her first two years extremely expensively. My mother is relatively young and will likely live a long time. Its unfortunate that the powers that be dont think long term to keep their residents happy and make them feel valued. Perhaps their plan is to rotate their residents to keep the new resident buy-in fee free flowing.
