Very caring and kind staff. My Mother in law thoroughly enjoyed all those who worked there. Plus, great crafts and activities that Rachel did. Highly highly recommend Chateau Gardens for your loved one.

My mom was a resident at Chateau Gardens memory care. She is longer there. She was neglected while under their care. I got a phone call from my mom (she has a cell phone) she was in excruciating pain and wanted me to bring her something. When I arrived I was greeted by Racheal, she is the activities director, she asked me if my mom would fake pain because she had been screaming for a long time about her leg and they all felt she was faking because she had an accident and didnt want to come back out of her room. I told Racheal, while my mom may want to be in a wheelchair vs walking she would not fake her pain. My mom was screaming still as I could hear her. So I went to her and she was telling me her hip popped while they were putting her in bed. She did say she told them but they didnt care. She pointed out one of her legs was shorter than the other. During this time I noticed she was wearing an adult diaper and that was soiled with dark watery poop. I was livid my mom was left in this condition. So went to the front and told them my mom needed help. I left knowing she would be headed to the hospital and yes indeed she was taken by ambulance. It took the er doctors 2 hours of cleaning my mom up before they could even take her up for an x-ray. 2 hours what the hell did they do to get her in that condition? Im no nurse or aide but I knew something was wrong shouldnt they have ? My moms femur was broken all the way through. Couldnt they feel something was wrong when they were lifting her ? She also had internal bleeding and those people actually thought my mom was faking !?!? My mom could have died had I not gone in and told them she needed help . Not because she was faking her pain as they had convinced themselves of,but because her bone could have cut her main artery in her leg and her internal bleeding could have also been the death of her. Ive been hesitant to post this because unfortunately my grandmother in-law is a resident at Chateau Gardens and I like to visit her but I cant remain silent any longer. I understand neglect can happen anywhere and is also unfortunately common in homes. I just warn those of you who have to make a choice of placing a loved one in any type of care facility you take the time to visit often, watch and observe. While Im not proud of this I seen a lot I did not like at Chateau Gardens, but I felt my mom was still getting the care she needed. Im angry for not doing better for my mom. I will no longer ignore any neglect I see at any home I visit. I do not care if the home hates me or chooses not to allow me visits. My mom will not be miss treated again ever. Nor will I watch a resident sit in soiled undergarments. They also deleted and blocked me from their fb page

No one wishes that their parent or loved one needs long-term care, and the choices for loving care under compassionate leadership are few. My mom and her partner lived in two other care centers before coming to Chateau Gardens. Here, I found Kim Fredricks, the director, to have an open-door policy. She led her staff, including kitchen staff, as equals, and they felt it. Director, Activity Director, Caregivers and Kitchen staff all pitched in as needed. Rachel Langford, the activities director, took personal care of the residents and treated each one as family. Both Rachel and Kim were tireless in their care of others. When I was away in Portland, and my mom needed transport to hospital, Rachel stayed with my mom, hours after her shift, holding her hand, until I arrived. When I had complaints, I was listened to, and I knew they were doing the best they could with the resources they had. Yes, there needs to be legislation to better the ratio of staff to residents in the State of Oregon. In the meantime, Chateau Gardens was my mom's home away from home. A blessing at the end of life.
