My 91 year old parents (mom and dad) have been residents of the Lighthouse in Ellicott City for 9 months and it has been an incredible experience for both of them. The dedicated care they get every day is loving and compassionate. There are so many activities for both. Exercise every morning, tons of activities and events, bead making days, greeting card making days, bingo, games, tons of live entertainment and lots of outings....there is always something special happening. The Activities Director is phenomenal. Carolyn is constantly planning daily activities that fits all of the residents. My parents were living with my family until my mom could no longer take the steps. I was very worried about the adjustment but we immediately felt the love when we walked in the door and it continues every day. Sabrina, the head of nursing staff has been incredible too. Whether there is a health issue, medicine adjustment needed or anything that needs to be addressed as residents are aging, she works with you to make everything as perfect as it can be. Always putting the residents first. The food is excellent. My dad is a big food critic and constantly compliments the chef. Recently my mother had to move to pure foods due to health issues and the options for her have been plentiful and they transitioned her over smoothly. The nursing staff, caregivers, med technicians, activities director, facilities staff, dining room staff, volunteers and the cleaning crew have all been amazing. This has been a real home to them and thats rare and hard to find. We are very blessed that the Lighthouse staff has been such a family to all of us. We are forever grateful! The Bond Family

Maybe not the best place for someone with a plethora of medical conditions, but for my loved one (diabetes, dementia, cataracts) this place is wonderful. He is so happy here. Really feels that he has a purpose and that this is his community. I can't imagine a better place for him. Pricey, but worth it to have him safe and treated like a valued human being.

Truly the most unprofessional management staff Ive ever encountered. The Executive Director made me very uncomfortable, asking numerous questions about the previous facility my loved one had come from. Her tone was derogatory and demeaning. Additionally, she couldnt keep anything straight, confusing information and making me feel like I was on trial. I had first encountered her at the reception desk and thought her inane chatter bizarre. Much to my surprise, she was just covering the front desk while the receptionist was at lunch. The Delegating Nurse wasnt much better. I am so glad we found a wonderful place after this nightmare of a tour. I recently met a woman desperate to move her parent out of Lighthouse. She said the staff there is impossible to deal with, and her parent sustained a serious injury within days of admission. If this is acceptable with the corporate office, stay away.
