IT'S INFESTED WITH BEDBUGS!Ms. Francis was nice on the phone, but pretty shi$$y when I told her I didn't have the full month's rent. As of July 2019 the rent is $375/month, with meals included.I knew I only going to be there for a few days, so at the end of my extremely unpleasant stay, I paid a pro-rated amount per the number of days stay. I'm sure I'm not welcome there.I'd heard about the place, and didn't have enough for a hotel room, so I figured I'd give it a try. That was a major mistake. You're in a room with five beds (for the women's side; I don't know about the men's side)They feed you three meals, and the food's not bad; however, the do serve a lot of leftovers at meals. The man who does the cooking is an a$$hole. Don't dare get in the way (by that I mean - stay the F out of the kitchen) when he's in there, especially when he's cooking! All the freezers and refrigerators are padlocked. You can bring in non perishable food, but they won't let you use the refrigerators or freezers. All I wanted to put in the fridge was half-and-half, and was told the residents were absolutely not allowed to use the refrigerators or freezers. There are some residents with vehicles who'll give you a ride, but they CHARGE. If it's local in Ponchatoula, it's $5, but if you have to go to Hammond it's $10. It was even $5 to get a ride to the nearest Walmart, which is LESS than half a mile away!Like I said, I was there for just a few days, but a lot of the residents had been there for many years. They have non-denominational Christan services on Sundays and Bible study on Wednesdays. I'm pretty sure attendance is mandatory. Considering the way they behaved about other things, I wasn't going to skip. I'm NOT a churchgoer.Everyone gets chores assigned, which I believe is reasonable and mostly fair.If you've got $375 and no alternative, MAYBE give it a try.
