Hi I would like to put in a review of Brookdale. I have found the place very clean , very friendly staff, very good to us when we were at there facility. It has lots of wonderful activities, great food and southern hospitality. I would rate this place a 10 if I could. Check this place out for sure they have it all together.

Ive read the reviews of this facility and feel that at the time of the reviews they may well have been accurate. I would like to say in my experience I have seen a complete different side than what has been previously reported. First I would like to say the staff are probably the friendliest and most professional that Ive ever had the pleasure of working with. The previous management team has been replaced by hand picked proven dedicated individuals and it has started to show. The Executive Director is a very warm and caring person. The nursing and care staff are veterans and they go the extra mile. The business and concierge staff are all wonderful and devoted people. The food service team is what you would expect from like a upscale restaurant. The activity staff are fun and engaging. The housekeeping staff are neat thorough. How do I know all of these things? I am part of this awesome team. Ive had the pleasure to work along side them for a few months now and I could not ask for a better group of people to be part of my extended family. Guy L. I have replaced my previous review, unfortunately, the rating system does not permit anything less than one star. what follows is the latest in what seems to be the business model at Brookdale and what my 90 year old mother has experienced.Last Thursday (July 20th) a nurse from the memory care unit called to tell me that my mother was in 'distress' (they like to use that word) apparently she had not moved her bowels in two or three days. The nurse advised that they were going to send her to the hospital. I was a little surprised that this would require a hospital visit, but they should know their business...On Friday afternoon, Nurses on Call telephoned my house (orders are that I am to be called at my office). there was a voice mail telling me that it was important that I call a certain nurse and that I tell the receptionist to have her paged. I called and got to an operator. I explained who I was and that they were to page the nurse. without being put on hold, I was told immediately that the nurse was not available! but she would get a message to the nurse. Given the urgency of the voice mail, I called again, and got another operator, who gave me the same message, 'the nurse is not available'...About an hour later, the nurse called me back, told me that they want to give my mother an enema and could they come they could come to my house to give my mother an enema. While doing a slow boil I explained that my mother has been a resident at Brookdale for over a year and that as far as I knew my mother was in the hospital to take care of the constipation. the nurse began to stammer and said she would find out what happened and then asked for permission to treat my mother. she assured me she would call Brookdale and update me. If you are keeping score, this is now four or five days that my mother has been in distress. Finally, Saturday morning the nurse on call telephoned to tell me that my mother was indeed taken to the hospital but that she was not admitted and was returned to Brookdale. she then asked if it was ok to treat my mother-naturally permission was given. By they way no one from Brookdale bothered to call to update me on why she was not checked in to the hospital.Annoyed that Brookdale did not call I reached out myself by calling them on Monday morning (dont bother calling on weekends). I explained to the receptionist that I wanted to speak with the nurse that runs the memory care unit. I was soon transferred over to an office and after several rings, was greeted by a voice mail recording. The recording was of a nurse that has not been employed by Brookdale for well over a month...Naturally, I called back and advised the receptionist that I would like to speak to someone that actually works at Brookdale . This seemed to confuse her, because she simply asked 'then who do you want to talk to?'. After putting me on hold, she came back and told me everyone was busy and that I would be called back when they were not busy.Anyone that has ever tried to reach someone at Brookdale will know that calls are never returned. my guess is that the message was never sent. It is now Tuesday, July 25 and no one has called me.

The memory care unit here should be shut down. Ill equipped, understaffed and mismanaged. I spent a year fighting to have basic, simple needs for my father met here. 99% of the time that I went there my father was wearing someone else's clothes and was in his bare feet. There were NEVER activities taking place unless there was a tour or inspection going on. Finally after an allegation of one of the aides reporting abuse (accused co worker of punching my father), and a so called, 'investigation' that was little more than a joke, I moved my father to a safe, clean, caring memory care. Brookdale does not care about your family members. Brookdale cares about your wallet. For a year I was told stories of 'what was going to be done'. Nothing ever changed (or I would not have moved my father). There has been no follow up. there was an allegation of abuse. It was 'investigated' and found that it was an 'employee trying to get another employee into trouble'. The one that reported it was not disciplined in any way. What my family has been put through over this past year is horrible. The people at Brookdale did not 'follow up'. Nothing is different. Thankfully the E.D. was finally fired, it is just a shame that it took a scandal for that to finally happen. It was clear a year ago that he was in no way capable of his position. The memory care unit should be shut down.
