Initially, it was great; however, we were misinformed on the services (such as checking in on our mom and reminders on mealtimes and activities) that were considered standard; however, shortly after paying the $2500 community fee and moving in, things began to change rapidly. Within one week, they let go of their director and hired a new one, then another, then another. In a matter of 6 months, there were at least 4 different directors and the majority of the staff left. Staffing was scarce and those who were still there were overworked and miserable. We even found one sleeping at her desk one night (the sole caretaker working the evening shift). Their main caretaker is a piece of work-lazy, rude, hateful (definitely in the wrong profession). She refuses to do anything one would consider common sense without threatening a price increase for care. Its all about the bottom line for the latest director. Courtesies (such as checking on residents) is a thing in the past. Your are either completely independent or you must go into the memory care (or pay big bucks). We would have been willing to pay more if that is what it would take to have good quality care for our mom; however, we were not confident they could or would provide the care we wanted her to have. We have now moved her into a place that provides the additional care with KINDNESS and COMPASSION, unlike Solterra. It is more expensive, but so worth it!!! The good things about Solterra: food/menu is great, rooms are nice, some of the remaining caretakers are great (I.e., Christina, Zinda)The bad things about Solterra (other than caring for residents): always smells like urine. They claim they shampoo their main hallway carpets, but take a whiff and youll disagree. The plumbing is poor and good luck getting a quick response on a plunge. Their courtyard grass is always dead. Dont let them tell you they are remodeling (it aint happening). Theater room sofas are soiled and stained with urine. Its pretty disgusting in there. Just dont move there if your love one requires care. If 100% independent with no cognition issues, its great. Otherwise, steer clear!

The first day we arrived to move my father in, there was no one around to greet us or give us an orientation on what to expect. Very disappointed. I left him that night feeling very uneasy. They assured us they had the ability to take care of my father's ostomy bag. Yet, he would leak in the middle of the night, and no one would know how totake care of it. He would push the help button, often, no one would come. The ones who did, he couldn't understand what they were saying. He was miserable there. The cost is quite high. If we wanted just a room, with no care, we would have moved him home. Since, after many tours of other places, we found my father the perfect place. Sweetwater Pines in Scouttsdale. My father shared with me, he never felt safer and taken care of. Thank God!

The girl at the front was busy showing another employee (which had by the way finished speeding thru the parking lot) how to do his TAXES. Me and another health professional stood there WITHOUT her saying 'just a moment' or 'ill be right with you'. Really bad CS. 02/12/18. 16:07
