Heartwood Senior Living

A year after our mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers, my brothers and I realized she was no longer safe living independently. We visited several assisted living facilities to find the right place for our mother. We chose Heartwood Homes and during the 17 months she lived there we never had doubts about our choice.From the day she moved in, she and our family were made to feel very welcomed. The wonderful aids treated mom as if she was their mother or grandmother. She enjoyed the special attention of having her fingernails done and hair fixed. Our family appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, healthy, good tasting meals and the loving care given to our mother. When I came to her bedside after being notified that she was close to death, I found three aids lovingly holding her hands, talking to her and comforting her. I felt very peaceful that she had not been alone before I got there. We are forever grateful to Heartwood Homes.

A little over two years ago at the end of December, my parents moved into Heartwood Senior Living. I had spent two weeks looking at many facilities in the Appleton area. Both of my parents were at different stages of dementia, my dad at the beginning stage and mom more advanced. Mom was 92 and Dad was 93. They were inseparable after well over 60 years of marriage. Jason, the owner, went out of his way to make sure they were able to stay together. They were given two rooms next to each other so a door could be put in allowing one room to be a bedroom. My father has since passed. He was quite a character at the beginning because he did not want to be there. The staff were amazingly kind, patient, and understanding. My mom is still there and her Alzheimers has advanced quite a bit. I feel a tremendous relief knowing that my mom is safe and cared for with love, kindness, and patience. I was so very thankful that Jason returned my call on that evening just before Christmas during a very hectic time of year!

Words can not Express my experience while living at Heartwood Senior Living. The owners and staff were superior. They took care of my every need. I received compassion above and beyond. The facility is beautiful and extremely clean. I made many friends. I am very grateful for this experience.

Heartwood Homes Senior Living is an exceptional assisted living facility in Appleton, WI. Heartwood Homes gives excellent loving care to all residents. Jason Schmitz, owner of Heartwood Homes, is himself a Registered Nurse and therefore, knows the care that is necessary and the concerns of the residents. The facility is always maintained in a clean and orderly manner. The staff is excellent, always available to care for the residents and provides much comfort in dealing with difficult situations and still maintaining a positive attitude in dealing with the various lifestyles of the residents. I have the experience of visiting a number of assisted living homes and Heartwood Homes is by far the best and should be at the top of the list for anyone needing an assisted living home as a residence.
