I have volunteered at the Wyngate on a few occasions. The staff goes out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. The residents are always well taken care of. You don't see people just sitting around, there is always something going on. As an elderly woman, I would want my husband & I to stay at the Wyngate if something were to ever put us in that position. If you are local and free the 2nd Tuesday of the month, they offer free lunch and entertainment to the community. I would recommend Wyngate to anyone in need of assisted living.

My mother was a resident of Wingate in Barboursville for five years and 10 months. During that time she was treated like a member of the family. The staff was kind, considerate and always treated her with dignity. When the family visited the staff always greeted us warmly. I cannot say enough about the wonderful care my mother received, it was beyond all I could have ever expected.

Throughout the past 6 plus years, I have had immediate family residing at The Wyngate in Barboursville. My uncle ( whom I was very close to) was a resident there for almost 4 years and my mother ( his sister) has been a resident now for 14 months... starting as a day time resident and moving to a full time 24/7 resident. I live 6 hours away in NC, however, I visit every 2-3 weeks and spend a great deal of time there with my mother and all her friends. Her friends include staff and residents. The staff is warm, comforting, and knowledgeable. I am always greeted and welcomed there as if I am a resident myself. My mother is receiving excellent care... physically, socially, and medically. The meals are nutritious and served nicely by staff in their lovely dining room. The weekly outing to an off site restaurant is a wonderful opportunity for residents to dine out like many of us enjoy. I appreciate the fact that my mother, who retired as a county Magistrate at the age of 79, is treated with dignity and respect as we all deserve. As one of her 3 children, I can truly state that we all sleep well at night knowing the excellent care our mother receives here.Cheryl Cannizzaro

My 89 year old father was in Wyngate respite care for 6 days. Staff let him fall twice in that space of time, and when I insisted on a bed alarm they did not respond when it alarmed. There was no intake assessment so that they knew what he was capable of when he came in, so they tried to force him to do things he has long been disabled from doing, like getting in the shower and getting out of bed and going to dining room for meals. Conditions were often unsanitary as used gloves were left on sink and counters, wet linen brought back to his room, and flecks of poop on his blanket. My grandmother got excellent care there years ago, but things have drastically changed.
