I am shocked this facility has not been shut down by the state. Inadequate care staffing, they make mistakes and lie to cover it up. The care staff appear untrained and unbothered that they provide poor care. I hope the next Healthcare Director gets trained properly so they can manage their team properly. No one takes complaints or concerns seriously. Linda has never returned my calls since October. There is a revolving door of management in all of the departments except where the need for change is greatest. Activities are a joke. My Aunt is disappointed constantly as nothing goes as planned, either activities start late if at all. Things are cancelled all the time and usually at the last minute. Part of the reason I encouraged her to move to an assisted living facility was that she would get social benefits. I never expected bingo and banana splits would be the highlight of her day in these last years of what was an adventurous life for an intellectual soul. I often have to bring her groceries since errand trips get cancelled so much. My husband or I take my Aunt to all of her appointments now because even though we were promised free scheduled transportation, they screwed up 4 of the 5 appointments. My Aunt says she will no longer attend any activities, she says the activity staff person Kylie treats her and her friends like children and speaks to them in a very condescending tone. I have asked Kylie for help with activities and transportation. She just smiled as if she didnt hear me and after 2 minutes of her staring off into the distance she said to talk to Linda if I have a problem and walked off. What a bait and switch. We were promised a vibrant lifestyle and instead we got board games and and poor quality of care since she moved in. After they received the deposit all the pretend we care about your loved one went to the waste side. The food is decent. For what my Aunt pays each month she deserves so much better than repetitive, childish activities and neglectful care. The only positive is that I did not move my father in law to Overlakes memory care unit. I visited the memory care unit 3 times. Each time there was one caregiver, the manager was in the office with the door closed and according to the caregiver the manager was not able to answer the few questions we had because they were too busy. No activities were happening, the residents were just watching tv eating goldfish crackers. There were 3 activity people upstairs, how much sense does that make? We will be moving my FIL to Fieldstone Memory Care, they have so much more to offer. Their activity program is leaps and bounds over Overlakes. Residents jewlery and other items have been stolen or missing . Housekeeping is decent, maintenance has been responsive but we have lost at least 2 to 3 hundred dollars of my Aunts clothing when they did her laundry, we do it for her now. My aunt cannot stand to be there any longer so we are now tasked with finding her a new home. I am so disappointed. I can only speak on our experience but I hope no one else gets duped into moving your loved one to Overlake Terrace. I beg those that are looking for an assisted living facility to make sure to look at their DSHS annual surveys. We made the biggest mistake by not reading them first. We never, ever would have moved her to Overlake Terrace if we knew about all of the violations. They are required to provide you the information if you request it. Please do and I feel that you will go elsewhere if you care. I have called DSHS and made a complaint. The Residents deserve a life of convenience, engaging activities and exceptional care. Overlake Terrace cannot offer that without major changes to the staff. They will likely lose the few good staff they have if they dont turn it around. Its way too late to make it right for my Aunt. I have not named her because I feel she will be retaliated against by the staff. I love my aunt and feel like we failed her by choosing Overlake Terrace.-Concerned Family Member

My mother is in the memory care unit here. I would rate the building and grounds 5 stars. The carers that I have met are kind, pleasant people who seem to have a genuine interest in my mother. The drawback is the lack of staffing. I have left repeated messages for my mother and not had a return phone call until the next week. The receptionist states she has no way to contact staff downstairs if no one is in the office with the phone. That just seems wrong.

My father came to Overlake Terrace in January of this year. He had suffered a stroke on the plane traveling back from Florida for the holidays. The friendly staff and nurses have nurtured him back to the sensitive and grateful person he has been all of his life. We are truly appreciative for his care and strongly recommend Overlake Terrace.

It's such a blessing to work in a beautiful place filled with good people.
