Our latest interlude with Penrose staff was rehab following transmetatarsal amputation of right foot. My overly conservative surgeonensured I received the full Medicare allotment of 100 days of skilled nursing.During that time I interacted with most of the RNs and CNAs assigned to the skilled nursing section. Other daily engagements were with OT and PT specialists and weekly reviews with medical director who is also my PCP.As I progressed from wheelchair to walker, everyone was cheerful and supportive. Nurse Joe erected a bird-feeder outside my window whichprovided entertainment throughout the day - 10 species seen.Dining services were good and special requests cheerfully provided.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no visitors were allowed, but family could come to my window for face-to-face interaction. If you need nursing care, this is the best option in Gig Harbor.

This is the second time I've been to work at Penrose, and it continues to improve. Since it's conception, the health care management has striven to build a better care team, and it is evident that everyone here is deeply invested in their work.

Penrose Harbor is part of the bigger Heron's Key, and it really feels like a part of the community. There were lots of events and speakers and performances that we loved. The nursing staff was very helpful and professional. Thank you for all of your work!
