My mother receives excellent care. She has been at other assisted living. This is less expensive and much better care than the larger facilities. I have no worries and what a gift to have Jeanne and her staff caring for my mother.

I worked for Jeannes Elderly Care for almost 3 years as a LPN and was never appreciated for the work I done! As a nurse I was expected to not only do my duties as a nurse but I also had to clean, mop, clean bathrooms, scrub tolits and cook meals. The first half of my time there I worked 13 hour shifts and would be totally exhausted by the time I left at 8:30!When I did go to regular days I had to work 9 hours from 8 to 5 but I only got paid for 8 that's so I could cook the evening meal and pass 5:00 meds before I left! When months went by and I got sick and tired of working 9 hour days and getting paid for 8 I told her I wouldn't do it anymore and that's when I was no longer liked! I worked most Christmas's and Thanksgivings and never a thank you or a extra $25 bonus or anything! I worked almost 3 years and I think I missed 3 days and never a thank you for that! And when I was no longer liked she watched me like a hawk afraid I might sit down for a minute and would talk about me if I did! All I can say is that I know I took good care of the residents while I was there and their families was good to me and so was her son and daughter! I'm not resentful that I was intimidated to leave because now I know how it feels to work somewhere where they appreciate you!

My mom resides at Jeanne's Elderly Care. She has been there over a year and we could not be more pleased with the care she receives. It is nothing like a large nursing facility. It is so much more. When you enter the facility, it is like entering a warm country homeplace. It is beautifully decorated. All of the 6 residents are female. The staff to resident ratio is excellent and the residents receive phenomenal care. Mom's care is as much like the care we gave her at home as you can get. There are two licensed nurses plus other med certified assistants. Each resident is treated with respect, care, and like family. Jeanne Duncan, the owner, oversees the care of her residents and will accept nothing but excellence. The medical care is provided by Dr. Ivey with Carilion Family Practice and the medications are provided through LexCare Pharmacy in Lexington, VA. The food is prepared by the staff and the residents really enjoy the quality and variety of everything served. The menus are well-balanced & nutritious. We love Jeanne's and have no intention of ever moving our Mom as all of her needs are more than met.. As far as cost, it is a private pay facility with a monthly cost less than any of the larger facilities. I highly recommend Jeanne's Elderly Care.
