This is the third place I have had my 95 year old father. It is a great place for him with caring staff members and much better menu choices than we have found anywhere else. Yes, there is staff turn - over but its MUCH better than than any place I have found. Its easy to criticize this type of facility because its a tough job and requires a special type of person. However, if I compare it to the competition in Rockwall, I am forever grateful.

We had a loved one stay at this place for almost one year. In the beginning, it was great. We loved the original manger and financial manager. They were so nice. They did not stay long. During our family member's stay at The Oaks, they went through four different managers, three or four different nurses, and several different support staff. People were getting fired our were quitting regularly around there. It's like the owners don't know who or what they want. Quite often, it seemed like they were short staffed for a place as big as that. Also, The Oaks is not set up for anyone that has too many health problems. It is basically a place for seniors that are fairly healthy and do not require much help. The nurse, at the time, was too focused on rules and not on our loved one's needs. I asked her about a couple of things two or three times, and she would never really address them. I know certain rules and policies have to be followed, but we felt like they were being too strict with things. The nurse seemed to be stressed working there too. The food was pretty good, though. The place is still pretty new and nice. However, just because a place looks nice, doesn't mean that the quality of care is nice.

A piece of heaven is the best way to describe this premiere Assisted Living Community in Rowlett, Tx. We had my father living here during his last year of life. The director Shannon was a joy to work with. She was extremely helpful and very attentive to all our needs. When we had to bring hospice care for my dad, Shannon gracefully opened a vacant unit across from my dad, so that the family could rest and be close by. The staff is very loving, respectful and accommodating. They are always looking after the residents, providing them with the best compassionate care so that residents can have a better quality of life. We are so grateful to all the staff at The Oaks, who helped make my dads last year of life a memorable experience. Thank you!
