Mom was non verbal, but always clean and well cared for.

I have been meaning to write this review for some time as a thank you for my Dad who had the privelege of living at The Cottages in Round Round for the last two to three years of his life. When he was discharged from the hospital he was heavily sedated as he had tried to 'escape' many times. They were actually trying to place him at a secure psychiatric facility but there was no bed available, thank god. The Cottages assured me that they were a no restraints facility and could deal with him in a humane manner.After the first day, I knew he was in good hands, they explained to me that instead of putting him in a raised bed with protective bars so he would not fall during the night, they had decided to put his mattress on the floor, that way he could move around without injuring himself. I knew then that they knew what they were doing. He loved it there, actually recovered very well. His doctor doubted that he would be able to get around without a walker; he was walking on his own within a few days, and he was happy! He made new friends! Unfortunately after two and a half years he worsened, with very advanced alzheimers and had much difficulty eating and swallowing, still they took excellent care of him until the very end; he died peacefully in his bed from pneumionia and asphyxiation, with our permission, we had granted him hospice care status so he would not need to go back to the hospital which would have only been a nightmare for him. The director even attended his funeral, we hugged and cried together; he was well liked there. This is a very special place for alzheimer patients; and I don't think this was an exception, most fellow residents seemed to be happy there and told me so. And yes, I have been to many other places where that was not the case. God bless The Cottages at Chandler Creek.
