I was employed here for 10+years and I can tell you from experience that the comments I've seen on here are far from the truth, and we're not comments from family or residents for one thing we don't have intercoms anywhere in the rooms and they are always short staffed the care is poor and the aides do not get any respect from the staff higher up the only good care I've seen was from therapy, they do a awesome job

During my husband's stay here he was treated with professionalism and kindness. The staff are awesome! Many thanks to Aaron, Shelli and Cathy for putting him back on his feet! I highly recommend Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation.

The people are mostly very nice, but I think it is important to leave an honest review to help others. My Dads stay was mostly frustrating for us. Nobody could remember to give him honey thickened liquids in the dining room even though he had been to the ER for aspiration and pneumonia the week before he arrived for therapy. Even though we brought it to their attention repeatedly. We even intercepted several straws that were handed to him (a big no-no for my dad). Instead of focusing #1 on the therapy to advance my Dad, it seemed they didnt have a solid plan. Honestly, their goal seemed to be to keep him there as a long-term resident, and they spent a lot of time trying to sell that idea to us during the end of his covered rehabilitation. We felt they never bothered to find out what my dad needed to be successful at home, which is what the focus should have been. The facility was not as clean as it should have been, which was our first impression. Initially, they put my dad in a room with another person. You could see litter on the floor under the other bed, and the sink and floors were filthy. We were going to transport my dad elsewhere (I had actually called a medical transport company within the first half hour of arriving) and they convinced us to stay by letting us visit with a therapist first, and by offering my dad a different room, which we appreciated enough to cancel the transport. The room was better but it was way too cold, especially at night. When we mentioned this, it was shrugged off as, oh yeah, it is really cold here at night and towels were lined around the window to help. A maintenance person was also sent in to check the heater. It was still cold. A big issue was the complete lack of communication in every direction. My husband went to the facility to check on Dad regularly and was given several different versions of the results of his therapy. One therapist said he walked 20 steps, and the next one said 10, and another said oh, he can only walk a few steps and then he must sit down (yet my dad walked 8 steps in acute rehab weeks earlier.) Again, no plan. Everyone seemed to be on separate islands. Medicare and insurance paid nearly $1,000 for speech therapy but we never once heard from the speech therapist, and why wasnt the speech therapist on top of the honey-thickened liquid issue? My dad has memory problems and they would ask him if he wanted to do something instead of just encouraging him, even though we reiterated that he needed the encouragement. They did a great job getting him to the dining room to eat, though (thats a wonder for my dad.) The people were mostly nice .... just a couple who didnt seem happy with their jobs (or maybe just having an off time) including one nurse who we did our best to charm with positivity (I dont think this should be our job though). But since our primary purpose to be there was therapy and to prepare him to return home, I cant give a good score just because of mostly nice people, although we very much appreciated the loving attitudes from many employees. I worried about my dad and couldnt wait to get him home. Now he is walking with his walker (due to my husbands encouraging), in his warm place, and has honey thickened liquids at every meal so we dont have to worry about him aspirating. My dad has been in multiple facilities as we have moved over the years, and I know there is no such thing as a perfect place, and people in this field are overworked and underpaid. Its hard to give a bad review because we understand this. But there are some major issues here we hope they address for future rehabilitation residents.
