My experience with CISD is limited to their dealing with the elementary school, but I'm not thrilled with their policy on the cold cheese sandwich lunch tray for students that run out of money on their lunch accounts. Making kids be embarrassed or stand out, look different for an error on their parent's part is a shame. Being a kid is tough enough without things like this making it harder. Feed the kids normal trays and contact the parents to make things right. Don't make the kids feel embarrassed for things they can't possibly control. That's just wrong. Also, don't bring state approved books into our independent school district that defy the constitutional separation of church and state. I know some of the books that the board reviewed for the 2018-19 term cross this line and yet the board is considering letting these books into our classrooms and that is just unacceptable.
