Featherstone Assisted Living of Durant

It was a very tough decision to move my father into an assisted living facility. I have been researching and visiting multiple facilities and never quite felt comfortable and felt horrible about even thinking about putting my father in a assisted living facility. When my wife and I first stepped into Featherstone I was greeted by Rachel McKinney, she is an absolute angel. She gave us a tour of the home and then explained the activities and what my dads life would be in there. Everything I thought I knew about assisted living facilities (which was not much) she explained in detail and broke it down so I throughly understood what was going to happen and what the cost were. She gave us all the options and even told us about her own grandmother living there and how she loved being there with others she could talk to and when she wanted alone time and privacy she had it. She also explained how my father's current home health nurse from Always Better Care Home Health could still be there with him (we found out she had a couple other patients she saw there) so that helped my dad feel a lot more comfortable because he knows his nurse so well. I can also tell you this, you can go in at any time and tell the staff loves every person there and are treated like family which is huge for me. Seeing Rachel talk and interact with everyone like they were her grandparents made me and my wife feel so comfortable. My dad enjoys it there and is honestly a lot happier because he felt like such a burden when he was living with us. I'm glad we made the decision to send my father to an assisted living facility and I am very blessed to have Rachel and the staff at Featherstone take care of my father.
