Pacifica Senior Living Skylyn

Pacifica Skylyn is not locally owned. The owner is a real estate investment company based in San Diego. The parent company has contracted with a third-party management company based in New York City to assist in Skylyn Senior Living management. The current Executive Director of Skylyn Senior Living received her state management license in early 2020. While the Executive Director has many years of experience working at senior living facilities in various roles such as Director of Nursing, Pacifica Skylyn is her first Executive Director position. I believe the ownership and management of Skylyn Senior Living are at the core of the numerous problems at this facility. The facility has the potential to be a great long-term senior care facility; however, two major things must happen first. First, the corporate owner has to invest significant money to bring the facilities up-to-date, safe, and attractive. Secondly, an experienced Executive Director is needed. All it takes is to drive around the parking lot to see how poorly maintained the grounds, roads, and building exteriors are. The exterior is a great indicator of the meal quality, dated interior, and overall facility culture. I understand the owner of Pacifica Skylyn has previously made a substantial investment in the facility. Apparently, there are plans for future investments. Past actions and future plans do not alter the current condition of Pacifica Skylyn.In all fairness, there are some wonderful, caring staff at Skylyn Senior Living. When you look at the top though, the Executive Director seems to be lacking the experience, professionalism, and communication skills to manage this facility. Other reviewers have expressed similar concerns.There are much better senior living facilities in Spartanburg - some at a lower cost than Skylyn Senior Living.This review is my personal opinion based on the experience of my father who lived at Pacifica Skylyn Senior Living. I personally witnessed and experienced everything in my comments. I encourage Pacifica Skylyn to respond to my review rather than attempting to prevent it from being published.

Terrible senior living facility with incompetent management.

Great facility, great staff, cares about their residents, attentive to their needs.

This review is based on observations and experiences while visiting a family member who resides at Pacifica Skylyn. The facilities, landscaping, and parking lots are in desperate need of repair and upgrading. The new Executive Director lacks basic communication skills. Telephone calls are often not returned. On several occasions I caught the ED blaming problems on other staff members when she clearly had responsibility for the issue.Until the corporate owners of Pacifica Skylyn bring in an experienced management team and invest in the facilities, I am unable to recommend this retirement facility.

It is impossible to ever speak to a nurse or administrator at this facility. A receptionist will answer your call but, you will be transferred to voice mail and you will never hear back from anyone. If you are out of state and your loved one is in this facility you may never be able to communicate with them again. The pandemic has made it hard to travel and there are numerous restrictions regarding visiting the elderly. This facility will not help you connect with your loved one. Consider this before you place a family member here.
