Artis Senior Living of West Shore

Artis is an amazing place; I wish they would let me move in. My wife Doris's experience has been excellent and she is better off being there than staying with me. I couldn't provide the steady stimulation and care that she receives from the staff which I consider to be my new family. I look forward to visiting her almost daily because there are activities we can participate in together. I enjoy eating supper with her 2 to 3 times a week which I would avoid if the meals weren't well prepared. The building's design has been well thought out to provide a home like atmosphere. Each of the four wings feels like its own neighborhood with a living room and dining room. And each wing has its own caring staff who are familiar with their 16 residents. I find it somewhat frustrating in writing this review because it is difficult to convey in words the loving caring ambience of Artis. You really would benefit from talking to me or a spouse/relative directly.Blessings,Tom Fruth

It is always a difficult decision when you have to place a loved one into a facility. We finally had to place our mom into a nursing home because it was no longer safe for her to live at home by herself. The Artis staff is very attentive and they try to keep the patients engaged both mentally and physically throughout the entire day. Artis has frequently organized special occasions for the patients and families such as a Sweetheart Ball, circus, outdoor picnic, Sock Hop, etc. The meals are fantastic too. They recently prepared special meals for a 'New York deli' and 'a trip to France' day. The facility is one level and the patients are able to wander around to any part of the building. The patients can go outside and walk around or just sit on the porch to enjoy the sun and fresh air. Each patient has their own room and half bath which none of the other facilities offered. Both mom and my family are always treated with the utmost kindness and respect by every staff member. Artis is an ideal facility for a person with dementia.

My father moved into this facility a few weeks ago due to his wandering and behavior issues. His dementia made it very difficult to place him. We were reluctant that the senior living center would be able to provide the necessary care for him, but we were VERY pleased with the quality of life they have provided. My father loves to be outside, and so the opportunity for him to walk around the grounds and back into the facility without actually leaving this facility, all while being monitored hourly, was an important factor In choosing Artis for his care.From the outside the facility didnt look all that impressive, but once we got inside, we saw that Artis was designed specifically to take care of the needs of dementia patients.We are very happy we chose Artis, and or relieved that dad has finally found a new home.

DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY THEY LITERALLY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY THEY DONT DO ANYTHING IN THERE BUT A SELECT FEW. THEY FEED THERE RESIDENTS BASICALLY NOTHING AND SUCH SMALL MEALS ITS A SHOCK ANYONES ALIVE GRILLED CHEESE AND APPLE SAUCE FOR DINNER. THIS PLACE IS JUST A MONEY SCAM THEY STEAL MONEY FROM EMPLOYEES AND WILL ILLEGALLY REMOVE HOURS FROM YOUR CHECK AND STILL CLAIM THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH FUNDS FOR MORE EMPLOYEES OR OVER TIME OR FOOD WITHOUT RUNNING OUT ITS SAD AND THIS PLACE NEEDS SHUT DOWN DO NOT WORK HERE OR BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE
