The staff treat them so bad I hope the best for all of the patients and there family that they are ok and help everyone move out because of the poor treatment that goes on in there you staff members should be ashamed of yourselves for making a innocent senior life so miserable

My father was at this facility twice. The first time was for emergency respite care when I had to deal with my husband's sudden death across the country. Ann-Marie made the process pain-free as much as possible while during my greatest time of need. My father stayed with Brookdale for one month until I was ready to resume my caregiving role with him. During the month he was there, the staff took excellent care of him. I know this since while I was away, my son would visit every couple of days in my absence during those two weeks I could not. Then, on my return, I would be visiting and witnessed the love and care the staff had for my father. Six months after I returned to my caregiving role while grieving my husband's death, we had major flood damage to our home. I went back to Ann-Marie and immediately she remembered my fathers first name and mine. I knew then that we were not just another caseload. I had to re-admit my father there. This time for the remainder of his days which would be approximately 18 months. I always visited him often and never saw any amiss in his care. The staff became my second family as well as for my father. Their support for family members is strong here. I was always informed of anything important in my father's caregiving needs by the head nurses. Monthly phone calls updated me on any changes in his behavior or health concerns we needed to address. Never did I see any signs of neglect by the staff here to any of the caree's they were overseeing for family members. There were well planned activities for all ranges of dementia care. The staff would work overtime if needed to make sure the caree's got their care needs met. They had weekly meetings with the staff so all the caregiving staff could have a unified plan of care for the clients. Plus the staff had training available to further their caregiving abilities. Up to my father's last day, the staff treated my father with the utmost respect. Even giving me time alone with him to grieve his passing until I was ready to call the crematory. I can only highly recommend this Brookdale in Troutdale for their excellent memory care for those in need.

I had my sweet dad in this facility for a year and a half before I made the hard decision to move him to another. This was several years ago and I can only hope and pray that the level of care has improved and the numerous medication mistakes have become non-existant for those living there now.I can't address the care, but I wanted to bring up a safety issue that you might not think about while touring this facility. We didn't. When you walk in the front door, you'll be in the common area. It's a really cute area meant to look like a cobble stone street with a store front or two. This is where they have all of their activities. The safety issue is the floor. The cobblestones are uneven and our loved ones with dementia tend to shuffle or not lift their feet much when walking. They have a higher rate of falls and these cobblestones don't help the situation. I don't know if they have changed the flooring or not, but make sure you have safety on your list when checking out any future home for your loved one.
