Run! This unlicensed and unprofessional facility run by John Wilson is a fraud. The staff remain for a decade because of incompetence and to cover John's mistakes! I helped moved my mother in law, Joan Jones, here so the'staff' knew who I was after 8 years here. I have decades of experience as a care giver and noticed that something wasn't kosher about the management early on and I kept quiet about it. They also did not respect the family's wishes when trying to move her out . After repeated requests to fix the heater in the room John provided space heaters as a solution. When THEY decided to move her to Grace living, also unlicensed and uninsured, she was mis medicated and died 6 weeks later! She spent the last weeks unreachable and in total dementia! The daughter and son, whom is disabled and lived out of state were in shock as they had tried for 2 years to remove Joan Jones from Oakwood. As the disabled son lived on a farm and had responsibility could not travel on no notice and daughter in Florida had a family I went as the family representative. I arrived less than 10 hours later on Monday morning. John Wilson does not work on Mondays but it seems everyone there is a 'manager' did not know how to handle the crisis that they created. They're unethical and make no attempt to hide it. Kinda like tRump. I had documents from the son with POA and after speaking to both children they refused to return Joan's things. At close of business on Tuesday they FINALLY produced docs and were forcing the bipolar son to travel to OKC . I had run out of time, money and patience and drove back to NM. As I said they don't care what a family wants or needs in a crisis! The staff took her personal things. Jewelry, tv, 2 scooters, furniture, sewing machines and family momentos. Legal docs in her room were not returned and the family had to cover cremation costs AGAIN. Rue Ann. Watch this passive aggressive monster closely. As well as the office staff! I can't wait till they see this. Let's see how many excuses they make for John Wilson's lies and buffoonery. dw

Moved my friend in here about 2 years ago and he loves it! I am his POA and he has no family. I love VAO and know I can trust them to take good care of him. The staff is courteous, compassionate, and attentive both to the residents and visitors. They take special care to isolate, treat, and prevent pests and contagious diseases. Maintenance and nursing care are top-notch. He gets three meals a day where he can choose from a menu like a restaurant. They clean his apartment and administer his meds. They offer outings, activities, and church services. There is a library, private dining room for parties, workout room, and salon. You must be 62 or older to live here and it is one of only two subsidized Assisted Living centers in the Oklahoma City area, making it an option even for low-income seniors. This center does not allow pets but the other one that does is all the way over on Northwest Expressway. I highly recommend Village at Oakwood as a great place to send your loved one!

My grandparents are here, and they seem well cared for.
