The Wyngate at RiversEdge Senior Living Community

My mother is a resident at the assisted living. The meals are so terrible that she only picks at her food. Last night was cold sliced beets (ugh). Under covid-rules, if you step away from the facility the residents are threatened that they cannot come back (or) they have the option of surrendering to a 14-day lock down in their tiny apartment (where a food tray is bought to them 3 times a day) like prison. What a miserable way to spend your retirement years. No one is happy there.

Proctorville wyngate is an amazing place to work, the employees are great and work great as a team. Vianna and Michelle are amazing bosses to have and very easy to get along with! The residents are pretty awesome themselves! But as much work as we employees do and getting called in on days we are off because they are short handed, the work we are required to do and the level of care some of the residents require is WAY above what wyngate offers..Myself and many employees hired in at $9-$9.50 per hour which is insanely below average for any assisted living facility around.. myself was told its not in the budget for a raise from $9 to $11 workin 8-2 doing the maintenance assistant job along with workin 2-10 as a resident assistant Monday-Friday and every other weekend as the job requires.. myself their needs to be a change in priorities when it comes to the main lady that runs this place because shes losing about every good employee they have...

I worked in the kitchen for a total of 4 days. Before that was 2 days of PAIDorientation. Ok so after my first 3 days Im told theyve still not received my background check and I cant continue working until they receive it. A full week later they have me come back for 3 more days after which Im told that its not going to work out . Let me make known that during my last day I did the dinner shift and about half way through it I was juggling serving 30 residents on top of grabbing dirty dishes and having to wash them so I could then bring the residents dessert. Standing around talking to each other, just gabbing the day away is what this staff does best. I think what was most shocking was the fact that during my time there, even though it was short, I didnt see anyone but myself wash their hands in the sink or wear gloves when handling the food. And dont get me started on how much the cooking equipment isnt cleaned (the fryer, the oven, the grill, etc.)I guess they like to fire people that make the rest of them look bad. And I think my favorite part was when I did a task exactly as instructed only for them to completely redo it on their own. Half the time it was redone by someone that doesnt work in the kitchen. And a rule I was told by administration is because the residents pay thousands and thousands of dollars per month to live there and because its meant to feel like a home for them we are never supposed to tell them no for anything and aome staff meaning the regular aids and the kitchen staff dont hesitate to tell them no or they take forever to get it done. They are also very big on residents with special diets getting the correct meals (for example residents that need their food cut in small portions or pured, also drinks with thickeners added to it because its a choking issue for some of them). Sometimes they dont bother to make sure the residents are given their correct diets for food and as a new employee even though they tell you otherwise they do expect you to learn all 60 residence and the special diets for each one inside one maybe two days. And the icing on top of it all was only getting paid for 3 daysnot 6. And now all the reviews Im finding about this place on top of the things Im hearing about the woman who runs the kitchen... there are no good things to be said about this place or the people running it. Basically if you are trying to find someone to help you care for a relative or looking for a job COMPLETELY AVOID PROCTORVILLE WYNGATE!!
