Overall: Nursing and activities staff are great, according to my father who has stayed here and myself who has called for regular updates. The administrative and social service staff are, in my mother's and my experience, very unprofessional and untrustworthy, and were blatantly discriminative of my mother. My review is my honest opinion as a person whose father has received care here, and I have noticed that a lot of the reviews on here are from staff and staffs family members.My father has been staying here for 3 months. He was admitted during the COVID-19 outbreak, so we have not able to visit the facility itself or meet with the staff in-person. Weve had ongoing issues with the social worker, Krista Gingrich, who we feel greeted our family with suspicion and judgement, had poor communication throughout, and made biased decisions that snowballed into my mother and I being cornered into surrendering our rights to care for my father. Our situation is, admittedly, complex, but there were faulty assumptions and decisions made early on that led us down a the path that has been incredibly stressful for my family, and victimizing for both myself and my mom--- especially my mom, who has a disability. I am still questioning the legality of it all.When I wrote an email to the admin supervisor, Roxann Tillinghast, to express my regrets at how my family was being treated, I was emailed back that she'd call me to discuss the correspondence, but wasn't called back for 2 weeks until after I left a 'sensationalized' Google review right here on the internet, after which I got a phone call the very same day. When Krista, Roxann, and I eventually had our conversation over the phone to discuss my complaints, they both took the offense approach and seemed more interested in poking holes in my arguments than actually hearing me out. Roxann was especially rude, insincere, and seemed quite a natural when it comes to gaslighting. As a person who has also worked in social service who understands best practices when it comes to compassionately handling complaints like mine, I would give this admin supervisor's empathic customer service a blazing 1 star. Regarding the nursing and activities staff, they are excellent and I would give them 5 stars. I call at least twice weekly to FaceTime with my dad and the activities and nursing staff have always been friendly and accommodating. The nursing staff has also been communicative and straightforward and have never made my mother or myself feel alienated from my father and his care. I have been in an out of many nursing homes with both of my parents over the years, and this is the first time I've questioned the decisions being made by social service and admin staff and the power that they've taken to make these decisions. This situation is still playing itself out, and I will update my review when its complete.

Had a family member at Shawnee recently for rehab. Cant say enough about the kindness of the staff. The therapy department did a terrific job preparing him for his return home. I highly recommend this facility!

The staff have been nice and friendly and the environment is clean. The decorations definitely give it more a cozy feeling when you walk in. My Grandpa has been very happy with his stay.
