I have now lived over 4 years here at Renaissance West as my wife and I were the first residents here. We moved in mid August 2009. It has been a moving experience here due to the beautiful settings and ambiance throughout the building, starting as you walk through the doors. The employees are all well trained and meet your every need, all with a smile on their face and a freindly attitude. My wife passed away in early 2012 and I was helped through the initial grief period not only by the entire staff, but also very much by all the management personnel. I have met many wonderful residents here especially when we engage in the many activities offered here: cards, bingo, crafts, fitness, movies, and beauty shop to mention a few. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered by staffed chefs and well trained servers. Food is well planned with the idea to offer a variety of food items. Every meat has two entire items, and meals are planned to offer soup, salad, entree with vegetables, and a delicious dessert to top it off! We have a bus to take residents not only to doctor appointments, but excursions to outside restaurants, Senior Centers, performances, and the YMCA. Church services are offered weekly and well attended.Kenneth C. Neal, Renaissance West Independent Living Resident.

I worked for Reniassance West for almost 3 yrs. It was the worst place to work for and I would never recommend any one living there. The place is really pretty but the people running it are nutcases. The executive director Beth Barber is very rude and brushes you off when you try and talk to her about problems in the building. She fired the original maintenance man so she could have her hillbilly husband Phil Barber take his place. He is just as rude and looks like he never showers. They are both drunks and yell at employees instead of talking to them in a nice manner. They do this in front of the residents who I know for sure find this very uncomfortable. Reniassance West is supposed to be their place of residency after retirement. There have been many incidinces where residents have fallen and Beth has told Resident Assistants it didn't need to be reported. I Have on occasion asked her for advice on residents and she would just brush me off or tell me to find a nurse knowing damn well the nurses are very busy with other residents. They NEVER have enough staff to take care of residents. They rather not hire enough staff and work employees to death.Makes you wonder how much money they are pocketing for themselves. I was one of the best servers there I took care of the whole dining room basically by myself in the mornings taking orders serving food to about 50 residents. Beth always promised to get more help for me but that never happened. I got into it with her husband phil about something so petty and he had her fire me. They lied and said I was mean to residents to get rid of me. The residents were always complaining about them being rude and not getting maintenance work done for them. Phil is always working on his motorcycles or cars when he should be working on the clock. He had paint fumes all in the kitchen getting residents sick. His junky looking cars are parked in the back trashing the place up. The employee breakroom always looked like a junkyard. And he is so creepy talking sexual to the women employees. He would always ask me if I had sex over the weekend. What a creep. I had heard him in his office talking to his girlfriend on the side. There was always drama in the kitchen who to fire next or them coming in yelling at us. Them making our 2nd manager hiring someone she didn't want knowing how he worked there in the past. He never does anything but go around texting on cell phone and flirts with the girls never does what he supposed to but gets praised for being a jerk. I could go on and on what an awful place it is but I don't have all day. I really enjoyed working there when they weren't around ruining it for me. I enjoyed the residents and will never forget the times we had together me taking care of them. My job now is actually really great. The management is very organized they have enough staff and really care for there employees. I would never recommend working or living there until the hillbilly drunks are out of there.

My father in law moved around Thanksgiving time and our family could not be happier, as well as 'Dad. He was widowed 3 years ago and was very saddened by this experience. After a few bouts with nutrition issues and unstable with walking, we convinced him that a retirement community would be the best answer. Little did we know that he would turn into the social person that he has now become. When we call or visit, he's either at Bingo, Happy Hour, doing exercises, or fellowship at a church service. He now has dinner companions and a social life.We can only thank Renaissance West and their excellent Team for giving back to 'dad' a new lease on life. He's found a new purpose Thank you Renaissance West !
