I am a current resident of Mill Creek Manor, 12/22/19. I have been here for 60 days following a hip fracture 5/15/19, Surgery at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and hospitalization at Iredell Memorial, then rehab at Iredell Memorial and a few months at a SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) before transferring to Mill Creek Manor Assisted Care Facility, formally named Aurora.I am 77 years old, have lived in North Carolina for 7 years after retiring in San Francisco where I was a LVN and Clinic Manager for 28 years at Curry Senior Center, a non-profit agency in Downtown San Francisco with services for seniors 55 years old or older. Services there included Primary Medical care, Case Management, Substance Abuse treatment, a meal site and Mental Health Team... in coordination with the Department of Public Health, San Francisco General Hospital and 12 community-based Health Centers. This, in my opinion, is a facility in transition, with a challenging resident population. Before I came here the director, Diann Matthews spent close to an hour interviewing me and sharing her philosophy of care that she wants to apply to Mill Creek Manor along with her extensive history of work in a variety of health care settings. It was very impressive. While I am not in a position to know things like demands that are made by the company that owns this facility, the intricacies of Laws, Rules and regulations that dictate how the facility is run.. I can say that the administrative staff have been responsive to my questions and concerns, as a rule. I can't speak for the other residents who have many different needs, abilities and disabilities that may affect their abilities. As I said to begin with, this is a facility in transition, and I believe, for the better.

Dont count on anyone to answer the phone. That's the one thing I hate about this place

If I could rate this company zero stars I would. The owners of this company is withholding funds that belong to a resident. This act of dishonesty is placing the residency of a resident in another facility in jeopardy. They are a stand alone company and are very shady. The fact that they will not release these funds is against the law (misappropriation of funds) and I will do everything necessary, not to exclude taking legal action to right this wrong!

I worked as the Special Care Unit Coordinator at Aurora from 2012-2014. At that time the facility was a great place for staff to work and residents to live. Residents, families, staff, partners, the community, and also State Inspectors were very impressed with the turn around we performed there, especially on the SCU. Since I have left, and the Administrator during that time has left, things have unfortunately went downhill very quickly. It breaks my heart to see and hear what has become of this place we all worked so hard to improve. God please be with the residents of Aurora now.
