Earlier this year my mom was hospitalized and had a short stay at a skilled rehab facility. It was there that they told us that my mom would no longer be able to live independently. I called Dougherty Ferry assisted living and scheduled a tour that next week. I immediately knew that this was going to be the best fit for her. The staff new each resident by name and it just felt very warm and welcoming. My mom has now been living there for a few months and has never been happier. She tells us all the time that there is not one thing that she does not like there. She loves the staff, she loves the food, she loves her room. She is very involved in the activities and looks forward to them every day. It has given us peace of mind knowing that she is living somewhere where she is safe, loved, and very well cared for. I will always say that Dougherty Ferry assisted-living was a Godsend!!!

When I first put my mom at Doughtery Ferry she was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. She was able to stay in an apartment and her care was great. Before I put her there I specifically asked if when she got worse if I would have to take her to another facility and they assured me that she could stay there but would move to another side of the building. Well, she got worse and they graciously moved her. The care she received on the other side was not as good but it was fine. Then out of the blue, I got a call to come for a meeting and they told me that I was going to have to find some place else for her because they were not equipped to handle her level of care. In essence, they told me anything I wanted to hear to get her into the facility but did not keep their promise. I had to move her and it was very traumatizing for her. The new facility is great and they asked about her pneumonia shot and I assured them that she got one because I specifically asked. I called Doughtery Ferry to double check and they told me they do not give pneumonia shots. I was again not given the correct information. If your loved one is capable of living on her/his own with monitoring care this is a good place. If not, don't even bother. Go someplace that will let your loved one stay until the end of days.

Absolutely deplorable. What the residents pay for is not what they get. The care is not good at all. This would be a good place if there was management that really cared, but the only thing they care about are bonuses. There is no confidentiality here. The management gossips and there is always drama with the staff. Doesnt seem to be a happy place. I think management should be replaced in this facility because the way staff are treated how could we expect good quality care of they are being mistreated. This facility has to do better.
