I wouldn't make the same mistake twice. Oh wait! I can't. My Grandmother is no longer here. I placed her at Hillcrest in 2010. She was to be there until she completed therapy (to walk again, feed herself, etc. after cancer surgery). I have pics taken of her every single day while she was here. The last pic I have taken here was the day before they let her fall out of her wheelchair. She went from walking with a walker (and assistance) to NEVER being able to walk again. NEVER going home. Prior to this, the first eight months, we had some issues, but nothing that couldn't be resolved. Then, new management came on board and from that day on it was a nightmare. MAJOR NEGLECT and I have pics to prove it. I went EVERY day. Anything from soiled linen on the bed she laid in, nasty diapers covered with feces lying in the window sill or on the floor, her wheelchair seat saturated in urine 'after she was put to bed', someone else's dentures in her denture holder. And, the worst.... I have three videos of her telling our family the story of how 'the aide said she'd be right back; she was going to smoke.' (She left my Grandmother in her room, wheelchair facing the wall 'instead of the tv', no seatbelt on, no leg rest on her chair (which was documented in her care plan.... leg rests at all times to keep feet elevated) AND the call button on the OPPOSITE side of the room. Great Job Aide! While you were puffing your cigarette, my Grandmother reached for her water and ended up on the floor.... gashed head, broken femor bone in her leg. NEVER walked again!!

I am happy with the staff, but my complaint is with the Nurse partiitioner, George. He had no authority to decide whether I was in pain. Considering that I have three doctors on the coast, diagnosed me with a pinched nerve in my spine. In the meantime I sit here in severe pain. Just because he decided I didn't need it. I'm am not very happy with his care

Working at Hillcrest has been a blessing. I truly love my work and the residents I serve. At one time I felt I would not care for working with the geriatric population, but I was wrong.
