We recently relocated to this area and the night we arrived our cat got out, he ended up being caught and taken to the shelter. We werent notified for days. When we went to get him they scooped him up out of the cat room shoved him in his carrier and sent us on our way. When we got him back home we let him out and he had a HUGE cut on his back leg. This place didnt treat him, or even bother to tell us that he had been hurt!!

We recently adopted a 3 month old kitten. She is precious, so sweet and we absolutely adore her but we were very disappointed in the care she received before we adopted her. When we brought her home, we realized she was invested with fleas. We immediately bathe her and got her started on Advantage, although her paperwork states she had been treated with Advantage two days prior. After we started the Advantage she began throw up worms!! We took her to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital since it was the weekend. This was recommended because she was already so tiny and still a kitten...they started her on deworming treatment at the office. She also has some scabbing that was most likely caused by all the scratching from the fleas. When I called the Hancock County Humane Society on Monday, they assured me that she was treated and must have got the fleas and worms from PetSmart in the day and a half she was there???? I dont think that was the case. It would have been better for them to apologize then to place the blame on someone else. I just pray that the other animals that in their care are being treated properly.

Friendly staff. They want what's best for the animals and treat them like their own. We adopted a sweet chocolate lab and they were excellent on keeping us updated on everything.
