My sister was admitted here 4 months ago. I have worked in healthcare for 35 plus years so I carefully researched several memory care places. The staff have been outstanding since day 1, helping with getting my sister settled in, and adapting to surroundings. The facility is extremely clean, neat, updated and a safe place. The staff knew my sister loved dogs, so on her first day, they brought over 2 dogs to Help her feel welcome, she loved the dogs. Another day, a person was playing the harp for a patient on Hospice. Of course, all would rather be at home, however, there comes a time when that is not feasible any longer, and I am very happy with our decision on this facility. It is a very sad situation for our family, but gives us peace knowing she is adapting and the staff are fantastic with her. Healthcare has gotten so expensive, that would be my only suggestion, is I wish the cost was less.

Almost two years ago we realized that our mother could no longer stay at home. We considered a number of options and checked with a few memory care facilities is the area. Unfortunately we did not find what we wanted for mom. Then our pastor recommended we check with Cottagewood. I am glad we did. It is just what we were hoping to find for mom. The cottages are very comfortable and 'home like'. There was an adjustment period for mom but the staff was very helpful in getting her through that. Now she is happy and thankful that she is there. The many activities and excursions keep her busy and fit. The meals provided are varied and nutritious. Most of all the staff is wonderful. Just the type of people that we were looking for to care for our mother.

They hire untrained support staff (NOT CNAs,) and they treat them like dirt. I worked here quite awhile ago, and the support staff don't even know that when your loved ones are about to fall off of a chair, you should go and scoot them back into the chair. Also, at the end of the day, it's all about favoritism. The favorite people (both staff and residents) get the best treatment; everyone else, is treated very poorly.
