Lakeland Center

My loved one was at Lakeland for 2 weeks and it was the most horrific experience I could have ever imagined. Do not be fooled. The nursing care was Ungodly. He was incredibly neglected. Being paralyzed, I did not feel he was safe and this place asks you to leave at 8pm. Security came in the very first night and I was terrified to leave him. Within his two week stay, he developed a horrendous bed sore and as his guardian, the staff hid that from me. I only found out when I assisted a helper in changing him. I was able to take a photograph of it as proof of the neglect. And, I STILL had to ask for him to be moved to prevent the sore from getting worse. They neglected his pain, after sufferring a severe spinal injury, broken neck and closed head injury. They did not give him a shower, did not brush his teeth, rushed his feedings as he could not feed himself. He was terrified. They placed his call light where it was out of reach. He resorted to having to beg by yelling down the hall for a nurse. He said to me, 'Get me out of here or I will be leaving in a hearst.' There is one Dr. over the entire facility who sits on the board. The case workers, case managers, administrators were worthless. Much laziness, unfriendliness, and unprofessionalism. I saw so much neglect it was incredible. I had to jump through many hoops to get him out. And thank God I did. I truly believe he could have died from neglect had he stayed there any longer. There is a very bad Spirit there and I wonder how many unnecessary deaths there have been. Please beware and consider these things...RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

I cannot say enough about the quality of care my loved one received during her stay at Lakeland. The staff is the most courteous and helpful of any that I have ever seen before. I was extremely pleased with our experience.

I have worked at the Lakeland Center since 2004, I have learned a lot here at this facility, and have meet some wonderful people. I have had family members that came here for PT/OT and they enjoyed their stay here. We are not perfect, but we do the best we can, and we provide excellent patient care.
