Not an ethical company. They treat their employees terribly as well.

American House of Kentwood is totally amazing! Excellent staff with very efficient resident care. Very home like and family oriented. It is wonderful! I highly recommend the Cobblestone building whose staff is very caring and compassionate with excellent care. My husband lived there 3 years and we had no complaints at all.

I've gone to visit an old neighbor a few times, the nurse aids have been very nice, that's where it ends. His cloths aren't folded properly and many socks missing...laundry not great. Bathroom not clean especially around bottom of toilet area. He had open boxes of adult diapers in his rm, open and unopened creating a fall hazard. I plan on calling the administration to make sure they are aware. His hamper was full and room and hall smelled like urine. This is not my first visit and I was hoping it got better.

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but I need to on this one. When we took my mom into the American House - Kentwood, they seemed professional, excited to meet her, asked us questions about what she likes to do, etc. I thought her 2 month stay would be a pleasant one. She has dementia so I knew she may not remember much anyways, but I did visit her a few times a week while preparing our daughter's wedding, and spending time with family from out of the country during those 2 months. Anyway, whenever I went to see her, her TV was not working, the switches on the lamps were missing, and the first weekend she fell a had a gash in her head - so off to the hospital we went to get stitches. She had NEVER fallen previously. Also, I had never seen so many bruises on her legs, arms, and even face as when she went to that place. Not to worry AH - I have pictures. Every time I visited, I never saw the residents doing anything except hanging over in their chairs watching TV. No painting, coloring, puzzles, entertainment, etc., Nothing. It's just so sad when the (underpaid) workers don't do more with our loved ones to keep them busy. I realize that our loved ones with dementia can be a lot to handle, but remember....they don't know what they are doing, so love, patience and understanding can go a long ways. I'm glad I took her home again and now, she is THRIVING!!! No more bruises, falling out of bed, and sitting in urine for over 6 hours. Just so sad when they are just a number in the system.

Agree with X son dont know what happened to X sons review somehow it got taken down. Let me say its been almost a year since my dad has left this place the help is constantly changing over the new help did not seem very compassionate to my fathers needs Robert Called my sister and I into the office and said my dad is going to walk on his own to the lunch room from now on. We decided to pull him out of American house and put him into a new assisted living place within the first week he was there his hemoglobin was down to seven there was no way he could make it to the lunch room so who made Robert at American house a doctor to make this call my dad ended up in the hospital and then went to Mary free bed for rehabilitation very poor call on American house. They evaluate my father once a year and the nurse said I really should go down and meet your father how could She do in a evaluation when you have not even met him you are just going on what the workers are saying and they have no medical experience whatsoever. The new place my father is at I get emails almost every week on his update and he is not having the Complaints that he was having at American house he wanted out of there at all cost We were allowed to bring our dog in to see my father and one of the helpers opened the door and the first thing that came out of her mouth was if that dog bites me I am going to sue you are you kidding me real professionalism at work here and the dog was on a leash 20 feet from the door. Thank you for your reply back ,but maybe you should check on the residents your self with a surprise visit we are not the only ones with complaints. So I would like to know how you feel the help is compassionate to the residents? We didnt see it .We saw compassion when it was oak crest but for some reason most of the help quit when it became American house. Again thank you for your response back but I cannot give American House a good rating after seeing the great care and professionalism he is getting at his new assisted care facility.
