Let's call it what it is: an 'old age home'. To hell with euphemisms! Mandatory minimum of care, not 'bad' for what it is, personnel do what's required of them. When I left I walked out, something most here can't do, at least without assistance. The 'two star' rating I gave is almost unfair because I've seen far worse. I could almost bump it up to 'three stars' mindful of those 'far worse' places that are in operation that I'm aware of.

My socially isolated, mobility-impaired 73 year old cousin lived alone near Cape Cod before moving to the Lowell Street VNA in September, 2018. The change in her, thanks to the attention and support she has received, was miraculous. She thrived because of the excellent care provided by the staff and the social connections developed in the communal dining room and through participation in a wide range of activities. After a fall in March and three months in rehab, she had become anxious and negative. However, within days of returning to Lowell Street, she was happy and positive again since she was HOME, where she feels safe, valued, and affirmed. The VNA Senior Living Community is a very special place.
