Unfortunately we have found the assisted living facility to be very understaffed and meal times unsatisfactory. First, the aides who work at mealtime are the same ones who help assist the residents. At other facilities where my mom was originally, they had a separate kitchen staff. So if a resident needs assistance at oakcrest during mealtime, they have to wait until the meals are over. That is very unfortunate if one needs help in the bathroom, etc. Another concern is that there is not enough tables at mealtime. The residents go to the dining room 30 to 40 minutes in advance just to get a seat. If not, then one has to eat after someone is finished. So almost 2 hours a day is wasted sitting at these tables staring at each other waiting until they get their meals.Weekends and nights are understaffed also. I have talked to employees who are not happy with the situation. If the staff is not happy, I find that they aren't providing the kind of care my mom and other elderly residents need.An exhoribint amount of money is being charged so I expect more from an Erickson living facility.Thank you Kristin Stoneberg and Jackie Gouline for meeting with myself and my 2 sisters last week to discuss our concerns. The one concern we addressed was that several employees said they were understaffed and unhappy to be working both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Your response was that your staff/resident ratio was better than what the state requires. That may be true but this is not a state run facility! I would expect to see more staff than recommended by the state. I believe that is what we are paying for. The attitude and friendliness of the staff are of the utmost importance. According to your website, 'Working at an Erickson Living-managed community isnt just a job, its a vocation. We search the country for talented individuals who are passionate about serving seniors to ensure residents enjoy an unparalleled lifestyle.'Which brings me to the most important problem which we discussed. We discovered our mother had a bruise on her side that went from under her shoulder to her waist, and she was in a lot of pain. Xrays, that her doctor ordered, showed 5 recent rib fractures. Yes, you did an investigation and my mother 'can't remember' (or is too afraid to say) what happened. However, she did not fall and no one saw anything. You said you have no idea how my mother was injured and your investigation was closed. Granted you have many employees who are very nice, helpful, and friendly to my mother. But it only takes one unhappy and disgruntled person to take it out on a resident and, thus, to ruin your reputation.
