As a former employee, I would caution myself in choosing Heron's Creek as an adequate work environment, or potential home for a loved one. The change of management has tainted the initial purpose and perception of this facility. The previous owners constructed a home for our unique residents, and provided a loving environment for residents, staff, and families. In the 2-month duration of management change this home has quickly turned into an unloving, hostile, and unwelcoming atmosphere. In the short time of this transition, Heron's Creek has lost 2 out of 9 residents to other facilities, and 2 out of 7 employees due to conflict of what is morally right pertaining to the residents. Multiple families, residents and staff are actively seeking better employment/homes because of the disappointment of the transition. New management is replacing the previous home environment and is implementing new policies that are not beneficial. Residents refuse to eat the repetitive lunch meat for dinner, families have observed the food limitation, and staff struggle to provide nutritional meals. There are no customized diets implemented. The staff are no longer permitted to sit and eat with residents as we were once required, and forced to work a 1 person shift with no breaks. The new owner rated his facility 5 stars, and said he replaced bad med techs and aids to improve resident care; however, there is no clinical staff present or readily available. He deceived family members and staff, as he told them he was an RN. After reviewing Maryland Board of Nursing, it was discovered he is an LPN, both the practitioner and LPN, are absent in the business, allowing the unqualified supervisor to take it amongst herself to diagnose/treat/medicate residents with no medical background/experience. She was previously a gas station cashier, now in charge of medicating elderly resulting in multiple incident reports under her care. The owner has implemented walking with the remaining residents, but while the other 2 are awaiting their departure from the facility, he leaves them sit in the dark living room, and does not acknowledge them. I presented 3 pages of documented occurrences to management regarding provoked anger, bullying, and neglect from the supervisor. I was informed I had an ego issue, and I am over stepping my bounds with reporting resident neglect, and speaking to families. Residents and families refuse to be under her care, communicate with her, or allow her to help them in any way because of her forceful interrogations, malicious intentions, and confrontational demeanor. She has created a hostile work/home environment, and management has excused her irate behavior, as we suffer her retaliation. Before resigning, I had promised my residents a celebration. Coincidentally, after the manager returned from vacation, both my co-worker and I were removed from the schedule. My co-worker went to say goodbye to the residents, as neither one of us were given the chance, and received threating text messages from the new owner regarding her RN license, if she did not refrain from visiting the facility. I acknowledged a call banning me from the facility with no reason as to why. I received calls from families, employees, and potential employers concerning the slander of reputation, and oddly enough, my familys as well. My family has NO relation with Herons Creek. The supervisor conveyed false statements, dishonest allegations, and undisclosed personal info. I respectfully resigned, but their supervisor insists on retaliating, and intents to ruin my reputation in Health Care, as she is still employed. Even after informing them of legal action being taken, this hasn't stopped. Thankfully, families recognize my dedication and time, defending my character, work ethic, and reputation, but sadly, I never got to tell my residents goodbye. Which leaves me disheartened, concerned, and disgusted with the handover. The quality of care, and quantity of life concerning the residents is now in jeopardy at Heron's Creek.

Heron creek is a caring and loving facility, that has recently changed management, who is implementing new policies in compliance and guidance with state regulations. Customize diet for each residence in comformity with residence diagnosis. New changes has lead to bad med. Tech's and aids replaced to bring quality care to residence. Activities and physical therapist is the new addition to the change, while management is working hard to implement other changes the entire facility is being considered for a general upgrade, ie changing old flooring and painting. The new management is made up of nurses with many years of experience, nurse practitioner who manages private independent practice and an out patient practice at Haford memorial hospital. Havre De Grace. Md.. This a facility where your love one will feel at home and live like home.
