I worked at Brightview Annapolis for over a year as a medical tech. When I initially began I was impressed by what the agencies philosophy was and thought that this was going to be a wonderful experience. Brightview has a high standard for its employees and it encourages staff to treat the resident's that live there with respect. Unfortunately it fails in its treatment of its staff. Many of the key staff are underpaid overworked doing double plus more shifts and are burned out and ineffective. Many of the management staff are not professional. They talk about staff to other staff, openly criticize staff in front of others and rather than promote and encourage teamwork and boost morale they foster an atmosphere of negativity and paranoia. The staff turnover is extremely high and there was never enough staff to cover the shifts to give the best possible attention to the resident's who live there. The independent Living residents are not provided with a case manager, nurse or social work advocate. The concierge staff is relied on to respond to any emergency situation that might arise. The hospital ambulances are called for just about everything. The facility to an observer is beautiful and looks picture book perfect but in my experience Brightview is not what it attempts to portray to the outside.Like the Wizard in Oz it loses its appeal once you pull back the curtain.

Update: Food has gone downhill recently. Updated to four out of five. My grandparents have lived here since its opening in 2018. The property is well maintained. The staff is incredibly accommodating even in light of some demanding residents. The dinners are incredible and have led to healthier and happier grandparents. They have a fun happy hour M-S for their residents. People are living it up in their golden years. Brightview does not have the ridiculous move in fee for many retirement communities. We toured several of them before settling on Brightview, they were sad and run down. Residents lease their apartments and renew at the end of leases. This model encourages management to maintain the building, quickly respond to resident concerns, and provide an engaging environment for residents, all of which they do.Take a tour and encourage your family to live here. Just be warned, they will make friends and might not want to spend as much time with you...

your handicapped parking is terrible..I can not go and visit my daughter I must be driven..parking is in back and that is way too much walking for me..I have had to pay a cab $90.00 for trip up and back to see my daughter when I can not get someone to take me..there should be handicap parking for visitors in front....this is not necessary!

Wow!! Every senior living / nursing home should be as nice as Brightview. Head and shoulders above the rest. This place seems more like a luxury cruise ship and it even costs less than most other nursing homes.
