Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation

My father is in this nursing home and he has to call us several times to get someone to go into his room when he needs assistance. Sometimes his call bell is out of reach, other times, he has called and no one comes in a timely manner. Believe me when I say I understand that they cannot always attend to his needs as soon as we call, but you would think someone would ring his room and at least let him know that someone will get to him as soon as possible. That would at least give him piece of mind. Thats if he isnt in distress due to the fact that he is on a ventilator, which is why he is in a NH; otherwise he would be home. To make matters worse , his entire family is over an hour away. This tears us up because we cant be there for him whenever we need to be. Then when we voice our concerns, some of the staff act like we are without good reason. I hope and pray we can bring him home where he is not a burden.

You hear horror stories about nursing homes- how they take all your money and mistreat people. Not the case with this facility. They have taken wonderful care of both of my parents- much better than I could. It's clean and comfortable, the nurses are kind, the food is excellent. When my Dad passed they were lovely to my Mom and let me stay with her for a few days, feeding and putting up with me. Great place. Not perfect- but the best you'll find. True story.
