So, my experience has been very differently perceived than some of the other reviews. YES, the place is very beaten down and needs more than a facelift to reach modern conveniences and the standards that most people have these days. However, the care and compassion expressed by the nurses is superior to some nursing homes that charge top dollar. There are some people that do not have many options for end of life care because of their past...society may consider them throw aways but not CORE...they offer a judgement free zone. Because it is not a large big name facility with wealthy residences could be why they don't have enough funding to fix the place. Maybe they don't pay well and it hard to retain enough good help. Sooooo, don't complain about this facility if you didn't make the time to check it out before you transfer a loved one there. That is your bad. The people that work there are good people that care about their residence. That is harder to find than pretty walls and electric beds.

One star is to high of a rating for this facility. When my mother was admitted, it was the worst day for my family. We walked into Core with an open mind and we're immediately appalled by the conditions of the facility. How they are still up and running is beyond me. Our mother's medications were thrown into a wicker basket behind the front desk, while the receptionist (who smelled of an ash tray) directed us to my mother's room. Once we entered her room, the lady in the next bed was laying, passed out, with her night gown up around her chest. She had no underwear on and there wasn't a caregiver in site. We closed the curtain to try and preserve her dignity, but it was disgraceful that the staff left her in that condition with the door wide open. There was also a random cat running around the facility. Which normally I wouldn't mind, we have 2 pets of our own. But the halls smelled of litter and cat urine. Not to mention a pile of feces that was sitting in the corner. Our mother was there for less than hour before we made some calls and had her transferred. My sister, who is a registered nurse couldn't believe how this place was not shut down by the state. They may not be licensed, which would explain a lot. Needless to say, don't let anyone that you love ever be subjected to the neglect and poor care of Core. Awful, awful, awful place.

Overall, this place is pathetic and staff incompetence contributed to the death of my mother!
