This place is extremely frustrating! They pass you from person to person with no one really knowing what the procedures are. No help at all in such a stressful situation. If you call in always ask for the head nurse or don't waste your time. You will only get a headache!

Our daughter has been at our turning point ranch for two months now, Who has regular suicidal tendencies since the age of 12. This is the first place that we've been to in four years with her that has been passionate and diligent to try to help her. Prior to OTPR, for almost 2 years she was on medicines That didn't seem to be helping her, yet the psychiatrists kept her on the drug. OTPR offered a genetic/DNA test and assessed her drug absorption based on her DNA. They found out that several drugs previously used before she came to OTPR not only doesn't work with her, but the side effects still happen! Thanks to OTPR's psychiatrist, we are starting to see improvement for our daughter.UPDATE: 9/2018 - First, this is delayed as My daughter left the facility in January 2017. However, I feel it is important to add a few small items. First OTPR didn't just cut us off after 6 months like the other 6 places did; they fought for time to get my daughter better. Further, the counselor was the only one who strategy worked - made my daughter think, dealt with confrontations. Last, yes, my daughter also complained about staff, but the staff is dealing with 6-8 'problem' teenage girls (not co-ed) every day - they have to manage exaggerations, lies, manipulations, defiance, etc. constantly. In my eyes, they did what they had to do. Firmly and consistently.Cliff

I went here 5 years ago after self admiting myself (through my parents). My experiance here was 'Ok'. My biggest complaint would have to be one of the nurses were extremely rude and shouldn't of been working their. I was around 12 and I just got back from visitation. I was homesick and I was crying becuase I wanted to go home. When I was sitting in the room when I got back from visitation. One of the nurses told me to quit crying in a very rude way telling me I was to old to be crying. I didn't think much of it back then but now that I think about it in ostanished someone like that is working around people who aren't mentaly healthy. My seconed complaint is that a girl kept telling one of the nurses she wanted to kill me... and they just asked her why and didn't do anything. She wasn't restrained untill she later tried to strangle herself. The only good that came out of this place was the medication they gave me which extremely helped me with my panic disorder and the short period I was there (3 days).
