I would give it a negative 5 stars if I could. This was a pretty nice place when it was new. Within a year the new owners and Administrator, Allan Burns, have run it into the ground. All the good and competent staff have left. The subpar staff that is left pretty much turn a blind eye to any issues and consider it not their job. Aids spend a lot of time on their phones. After closing to the public god only knows what is going on. Communication with the Administrator is non existent. When decor (seating, tables, chairs, benches etc) become broken, it is either left or thrown out without being replaced, the place is falling apart. There are very important design flaws (or they were ignored in during construction); some doors are not 36 inches for wheelchairs, some bathroom sinks not wheelchair accessible. No freight elevator, all items must be moved in resident elevator or carried up the stairs, parking for residents visitors is limited. Spent a lot of time picking a place for my loved one and it was frustrating to see it run into the ground and having to start all over again.

This is a beautiful facility and I am very grateful for the cautious measures that are being taken during this Covid-19 Pandemic at this location. After reaching out to numerous people in different locations and facilities, I have heard that everything is going well and residents are in lock down and being feed very well, except Elan. As so many know, Elan Buena Vista Senior Living does not have a great reputation for food quality and have lost residents because of the food quality. The community talks about it and doctors know about it as well. The residents at this location pay a premium to live here. I would say that most are use to fine dining and expect the same while living here. That is not what they are getting!! They fill out a menu for each meal and are lucky if they receive all of that. The menu is good, they just don't fulfill it. Did you know that a 'fresh fruit platter' now consists of a 1/2 cup of fruit cocktail and a dried up piece of toast? I have received pictures of every meal since the lockdown started. Thank goodness I had the menu next to it, because most of the meals I could not tell what it was. The food is thrown together on top of each other, the food is not even what was ordered and best of all, they are using rotten lettuce for salads. The list goes on and on!! Please people if you know anyone that is living in this location please check on them. Have them send you pictures of the food that they are receiving. It is truly heartbreaking!! If they complain, the staff blames it on corporate. It seems to me, that they have a director there that should be taking care of this problem. Since they are on lockdown I would think this would be the companies time to shine and give the residents the best meals they possibly can. After seeing the pictures for the last month, I would be one of the first ones moving out as soon as I could once this is over!! Please, please, please check on anyone that you know who is living in this facility.

Thanks to the kind folks at Elan Buena Vista, we know our Mom is in great hands. Every day we see her enjoying a myriad of activities - always with a big smile on her face. (We also have some evidence that she is loving the food!!) But today the EBV team went above and beyond. Mom needed assistance with navigating a challenging phone call (press one, two, nine, six if ....) and help was on it's way. The issue was resolved with grace and kindness. Elan style. So pleased to know Mom is such a wonderful place!
