My grandfather lived here in his dying days and I can't speak more highly of the love and attention he received. By no means is this a 'facility' but truly a home. The residents and employees are all well acquainted with dietary restrictions, activity preferences and preferred means of getting the laughs of the day (sarcastic wit, a friendly chat about the weather, a good old knock-knock joke) in of each and every resident. The daily functionings are ones of ease and fluidity rather than order and regime. Much of the produce for meals is purchased at the local farm fresh market making the food not only innovative but sustainable. Activities range from daily bingo to weekly bowling trips, lunches out and the occasional play. The owner is a woman so down to Earth and so in tune with the ways of the world it merits saint-hood in my biased opinion . She has a special relationship with each resident, an ability to reason with them unlike any other I've come across. She takes great care to be there daily, knows everything from their next doctor's appointment to the names of their grandchildren. The majority of her staff has been there years and years dedicating their time and energy to a truly emotionally involved occupation and I feel there must be some reason behind it very much related to the energy of Somerset. I can't speak more fondly of the time I've spent there observing, partaking and enjoying the movement that occurs. If you're lucky enough to make it past the waiting list, your loved one will undoubtly be truly cared (not just 'for' but) 'about'.

Not impressive. I went to visit my family member, they came to give him his bedtime snack. It was lemonade and a half of a peanut butter sandwich. Attendant was NOT wearing gloves, he had the sandwich in his BARE hand. No napkin. Not very sanitary at all. To know my family member needed extra care, with shower etc. I took a look at his toes while visiting and the toe nails had not been cared for in quiet sometime. Toenails where growing over and to the back side of the toes. I'm grateful they were not diabetic. I have since removed family member from facility. I don't feel they have the best interest of the patient at heart.

Taking excellent care of my dad, food is delicious, living quarters are clean and spacious. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Beth is a wonderful gal. Dad loves it and that makes me feel much better being 1100 miles away.
