Think twice before allowing your parents to move in here! Sierra Point was one of the nicest Independent senior homes in Scottsdale until it was acquired by Atria about two years ago. Since the acquisition the food is horrible, management makes promises to add staff that is needed,, improve the food and more. They have not been able to deliver. Five years ago it was promoted as Independent Living with a small segment of Assisted Living that was generally for a quick rehab and back to your own apartment. Today it has clearly become Assisted Living with a small group of people that are still Independent. Prices continue to increase and services continue to decrease. We wish they had not sold out.And here is an update: 1/20/2019HORRIFIED I dont think there is a better word than horrified! My Mother-In-Law told me last week and before I sent this email off to you I had to cool down. When the air conditioning was installed in the building, she woke up one morning, stepped out of her bedroom half dressed to go get some coffee and was startled by two men working in her apartment. She gave them NO AUTHORIZATION to come in, Atria did not inform or ask her the day before ( at least ) to let her know someone would be entering her apartment.Thankfully, she didnt have a heart attack as she was scared to death. She ran back in her bedroom hoping they did not see her and waited for them to leave. This cannot be an acceptable way of doing business, this is not acceptable in any way. I am generally the person that can handle just about anything but this is BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE. She was embarrassed to even tell us this. As far as I am concerned this was basically breaking and entering! What the heck is going on there? Atria is supposed to be a company that we can trust with our parents well this clearly proves that they are not!

My parents are both in assisted living at Atria Scottsdale 5/21/2020. The move was quick and I felt the staff worked as a team to get everything ready for the move. The apartment is BEAUTIFUL, open floor plan with a patio! Very few assisted living facilities offer balcony/patio. I shopped around! With Covid restrictions, a move of two 76 year olds, one terminally ill (cancer) and the other with forgetfulness and coordination difficulties, the staff was more than happy to assist in any way. They even took boxes to the dumpster, etc.I was taken back when offered 2 nurses and the Directors cell phone numbers! The staff actually answers me immediately (most cases) or gets back to me ASAP - even when they are not on duty... who does this?!?!?! The staff has kept in close contact with me regarding my parents care and state of mind. My parents are both very happy to be at Atria! I am over-the-top happy with Areyda, Joan, Charon, Shiron, Stacy and anyone else I have come in contact. I feel as if my parents are in a beautiful, safe environment. So happy I found this place! Thanks to all.

I moved to this community a year ago. I am a native of Israel, moving from the east coast. I wasnt sure how I would fit in here. To my surprise I was welcomed with open arms and regard it now as my home and the rest of the residents are my friends. I am very happy with my decision to move here. My favorite thing about the community is how friendly the people are.

We'd been thrilled to find this location for my elderly dad when we moved him from Florida to be closer to us. He had a large and well appointed apartment in independent living, the meals and staff we great. Aside from some interventions for an aging person exhibiting early signs of dementia that would be expected from a staff trained to deal with such issues, the staff - particularly management - was generally very considerate and open to communication. However, over the past two to three years, we have seen a tremendous turn over in key positions as well as a decline in number of care givers on staff at least in the assisted living area to where we moved Dad a few years ago. The food quality took a definite downturn, the upkeep of the grounds also seemed to suffer - when I'd take my father outside to sit I'd have to clean the table and chairs due to what appeared to be neglect of routine upkeep. Items for which we used to be able to contact maintenance, we were told they were no longer handling. Medical oversight also presented some opportunities for improvement - once potentially resulting in delayed hospitalization and subsequently my observation of a strong topical medication being applied to the incorrect area. Improved communication with providers would likely be a benefit to staff and residents alike. But most of all, the annual rate increases were astronomical, recently with no room for negotiating a better rate for a long term resident on an obviously fixed income who would have great difficulty meeting a 10% monthly increase. Especially in light of the observed changes, there was simply no justification to remain and be subject to ongoing hikes. It's not easy to transition an older person to a new home, but sadly Atria left us -and from what we saw and heard, others - with no feasible alternative. I remain uncertain as to management's long term goals but providing reasonable care in all aspects including financial, sadly did not meet ours.
