Highgate Senior Living - Prescott

Since my sister was experiencing early onset dementia, we siblings moved her from New Mexico to Highgate after I looked at several assisted living places in the area. We are so pleased with the choice. The move was unsettling to be sure, but with the care and attention she has received, she now feels very secure and at home. Kathy at the front desk has been a listening ear when my sister had spells of sadness and confusion. She calls to inform us of activities we can join in like holiday meals and the Memorial Day parade for the residents. The nurse, Amber, has responded to my questions concerning behavior changes and medications. Leslie, the director, sends written communication concerning Highgate's response to COVID-19. They are doing an amazing job of protecting the residents.My sister often says she would like to know how Highgate interviews for staff because 'everyone is so kind and helpful.' She has a heart for the staff who do the unsung jobs like cleaning rooms and doing laundry.The staff keyed in on my sister's ability to engage other residents in conversation and activities (not so unusual for a former speech pathologist), so they encourage and acknowledge her abilities. My sister now feels dignity and a sense of purpose in her role of making others feel noticed, significant, and included. We siblings are all very greatful for the personal care our sister is receiving. I feel that the Highgate staff see what they do, not just as a job, but as a mission to be a home and familty for their residents. Thank you.

I moved in about a month ago! The food is so good here at Highgate. I hate to tell you this but I have already gained 1 pound and Im going to have to cut down on the food a little bit. You should try it whenever you get a chance! The staff is taking care of all of our needs even despite this virus going on in the world right now. The housekeeping staff did a beautiful job on my laundry! Neil, one of the care partners, is extremely helpful and nice. Honesty, everyone is nice! My wife's Mom has been at home in The Cottage at Highgate for four months, after two years in assisted living in Mesa and a brief stay at another Prescott facility. The differences in the approach at Highgate, some of which are subtle, have made all the difference to us. The Cottage staff engages the residents with respect and loving care, encouraging participation in regular activities and outings. They are approachable and responsive to our questions and comments regarding Mom's care. The food is satisfactory, and we're particularly pleased by the staff's efforts to understand and address the residents' food preferences and preparation needs. The facility is well-maintained, and the environment is warm and comfortable. We've seen marked improvement in Mom's outlook, and each time we visit we're reassured that our decision to move her to Highgate was in her best interests.
