My 101 year old mother has depended on caregivers from Home Instead for many years. As her needs have increased, Home Instead has worked with us to help meet them. Caregivers have almost always been wonderful, caring people with good communication skills, and management has been quick to respond to any requests that we have made. Yes, they are expensive, but the dependability and quality of service is worth it, in our opinion.

Home Instead is an investment in my peace of mind. Knowing my elderly mother is safe and taken care is worth it's weight in gold. Thanks Home Instead.

I called looking for weekend help for my elderly relative. The service was extremely expensive requiring down payment and $30+ an hour. I was willing to pay this for quality care because my ultimate goal is the safety/well-being of my elderly relative. The person they sent was nice and pleasant but did not have the professional training that would justify paying her more than a professional nurse makes. I could have got the same quality person with similar qualifications from Craigslist for half the cost. I didnt want that. I wanted professional care from a person trained in elder care. The person they sent was morbidly obese to the point of being almost disabled. I have no problem with people being overweight, or disabled unless it infringes on the job they are hired to do. Since this job was ensuring the safety of a vulnerable disabled elder it didnt seem appropriate to send someone who might or might not be able to perform that job task. We asked for a person to work a noon-8pm shift. The person they sent stayed until 10pm and then tried to claim 2 hours of overtime that she spent on her phone while her charge was asleep in bed. It took multiple phone calls and emails with the office administration to clear this up. This seemed kind of dishonest to me since we clearly stated the shift beginning and end times. It felt like we were being taken advantage of.The final straw for me was when the caregiver left her large bloody sanitary pad on top of a pile of overflowing bathroom trash. It was very gory and left in plain view where it could be reached by the dogs and very young children who also live in the house. One of the main reasons we hired a caregiver was to help our elder with personal hygiene and sanitation especially when using the bathroom. We expressed and emphasized this when hiring the service. They clearly did not communicate this effectively to their employee. Not only did this act expose everyone in the house to potential blood born pathogens, but it also demonstrated a remedial understanding of personal hygiene, professionalism, and basic social norms.
